Does the Edge Juice with Attitude Tuner Void Ram's Warranty? Can It Increase Fuel Economy?

My 2019 3500 6.7 HO has only 12,000 miles on it and is still under warranty, so I've never given much consideration to using an after market "tuner." But now with fuel prices as they are, I am considering getting one. Anyone out there have experience with this Edge Juice with Attitude Tuner? If so, can it really improve fuel economy? Will it void Ram's Warranty? Thanks much !!

Reading in this Tuner's User Guide, I see that it has 5 power levels. The 1st one, MILEAGE (LEVEL 1) - "Recommended for daily driving. The mileage tuning was created for optimal fuel economy under normal driving."

But was does optimal mean? How good of fuel economy? Better than stock and if so by how much?

I used the Edge CTS 2 on my 2017 CTD. I did so with the understanding that some dealers simply void your warranty for anything regardless of the cause. They cannot blanket your entire truck's warranty just because you have modded it. Look up the Magnuson-Moss Act which describes the duties of a buyer and seller with respects to warranty.

Other dealers will work with you but if your mod caused the problem, Stellantis will not warranty the repair.

My experience with the Edge programmer was excellent. I did see a small MPG increase over stock, around 2 - 4 MPG, especially on the highway with a minimal load. Once you start hauling a load in the bed, towing a trailer or driving around town in stop and go you can expect to get mileage figures comparable to stock ratings or even less depending on how much load you are hauling or towing.

I sure as heck would not risk a tune while under warranty, once a dealer notes the truck has a tune an marks the warranty as Void it's up to you and at your expense to prove them wrong, do not know of anyone who has over turned a voided warranty...

A 2 - 4 mpg increase is quite large, if otherwise I would get 18 mpg. Doing the math, if I got just 2 mpg more, over 50,000 miles, I'd get 5,000 free ones. That's nothing to sneeze at. HOwever, 5,000 miles at 20 mpg would be 250 gallons of Diesel. $750 if the cost of Diesel were to drop back down to $3. The Tuner costs $1,000. It would take a long time to pay for itself.

The Edge Juice is an add on module that intercepts the information coming from the pcm and modifies it according to the level you have it set on before sending it to the engine. It does not reprogram the pcm in any way.
The only way you might have an issue with the dealer is when they plug it into their machine and see where boost, fuel pressure and timing values were higher than normal at if they are able to see into the past.
Still some risk involved but not as much as with a regular programmer. If you run it on one of the lower settings you should be fine.

I would personally wait till the warranty is up and then delete. It’s the best option.

More fuel creates more particulate. More particulate means regens. Running a low hp time may not hurt much.

One way to get better fuel mileage is to keep speed around 65 MPH, I had my truck out yesterday for a 270 mile trip based on last tank of fuel (18.48 hand calculated) with it now having just 1882 miles I hope to see closer to 20 mpg, the increase will be I was keeping speed between 65-68 MPH, trip also included about 15 miles of city driving...

Best mpg I have ever gotten in 16.5. 90 miles from 1,800 feet elevation to 800. On the way back, only 15. Mine is the HO 6.7. Truck now has 13,000 miles.

Below is my fuel receipt for last fill up and screen shot of dash readout at home just before refueling, last one is current readout but I have not yet refueled from yesterday trip, was shocked to see improved mpg by driving at lower speeds.

Unless you are going to delete I wouldn't mess with a tuner for fuel economy. Better just to change your driving habits. If you were going to get rid of egr and def noe your talking fuel consumption difference.

Personally, if I was 3years in I probably would have modded it already. I don’t trust the dealer monkeys to touch my truck with anything.
