I have 2014 Laramie 4x4 and the other day my upper ball joint popped out. Today I bought a new uca with a pressed ball joint and after installing the ball joint seemed to raise slightly from the control arm. Should I be concerned or is this normal or should I be concerned? I bought the uca from autozone 93438D48-3460-4188-8743-9C092B449802.jpeg

i would put a floor jack under your control arm to unload the ball joint and then see if you can get any up and down movement on ball joint with a pry bar placed under the tire. also if that gap wasn't there when you first installed it i would take that control arm back!

Is your truck lifted? It’s odd that your upper ball joint popped out and that this one is starting to push out as well.

I believe my truck has a level kit on it because I have 35inch tires and it sits even no rake and doesn’t sit too high up. I bought the truck used so I haven’t done anything to raise it myself but from looking at it I think it has a level kit on it. Do I need different upper control arms if it’s leveled? I’m not to familiar with level kits and lift kits

Can you take a picture of the front struts and the top of the front struts. If they used lift spacers above the struts that is the usual culprit as this generation ram doesn’t seem to like them because of the angle it puts the upper ball joint at. Also over a 2” level usually new upper control arms are a good idea because some trucks will pop ball joints just like your truck is doing due to the angle of the upper ball joint. Some people buy the mevotech stock replacements with no issues. Others buy angle correcting for leveled trucks. Rough country sells a cheap set. Zone and jba are good options.

So I’ve solved the issue thankfully. My truck is leveled and as crazykid1994 stated the angle of the ball joint was to much so I upgraded my uca to some readylifts and downgraded my tires from 35x12.5 to 33s to prevent the rubbing the new beefy UCA. Rides much smoother and feel safe. Appreciate all the info/advice.
