@wader Sounds like you're having very similar issues as mine. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the e-torque.

Someone who works in my building parked next to me in the exact truck I have (even has the Night Edition!), but without the E-torque and it sparked conversation. He let me drive his and he drove mine.. let me tell you, it's a NIGHT AND DAY difference. You couldn't feel his transmission shifting and he had zero vibration, he made comment how if his drove like mine did he would be livid. If Ram decides to make this right I will not agree to another truck with the E-Torque. Unfortunately, I don't think they plan on helping me and I will have to move on from Mopar products.

I did finally receive an email from Mopar (although, in his email body he said he works for Jeep) Still no phone call to discuss next steps, but per his email they want another diagnostic at the dealership before "moving forward" - What moving forward is he didn't elaborate to. Will keep you updated on what, if anything, Ram decides to do about this.

Update:

The case manager emailed me May 13th saying I needed another diagnostic to move forward and asked if I had a dealership preference, I responded same day and it's been dead silence since.

I've called 3x and emailed 2x but have not received any response. Does anyone know if there is a way to escalate and/or get a different case manager? This guy has a full voicemail and is unresponsive. Absolutely not getting anywhere.

The truck is still running the same. My infotainment screen did have another freezing session, but didn't reboot this time. No new issues but all of the original still persist!

I just purchased a 2022 Ram 1500 Bighorn night edition w/e-torque and feel the exact same thing. At first I just thought the truck had a lot pep and I needed to get used to it.
Difficult to make a smooth start off the line. It’s push the pedal a little and no movement or go a little further and it jerks off the line. In higher gears same thing where it feels like it’s struggling to find gear and then suddenly does and leaps forward. Also same thing you described in the downshifts.
I was stuck in city traffic yesterday and literally felt like I was back in high school learning to drive a stick shift.

I picked this rig up with from a Toyota dealer with only 4k miles on it from the previous owner. I was curious as to why it was traded in so quickly, unfortunately I think now I know.

The way you are explaining it is 100% the same thing I am dealing with. The good news is they found that my windshield was leaking and that was the cause of the whistling noise I had.

The bad news is, the truck is at the dealership for the 5th time now waiting on a cam phaser. They "think" that the cam phaser could be the reasoning behind the delay we feel when giving it gas from a total stop, we'll see I guess. Every vehicle brand has their lemons and some of us are unfortunate enough to purchase them. I had to retain a lawyer and am pursuing the lemon law now. It's now spent more than 50% of my ownership at the dealer...

I have a 2019 bighorn. Just got a new transmission at 40,000 miles. Truck started popping out of reverse and evolved to would shift out of first with an internal failure code

Curious is any of you have made progress with this issue. I have been dealing with the same problem. Dealer told me it’s just the way they are which i still have trouble accepting.

Have you received the repair yet? Was just informed my truck will be on back order for the parts needed. Was informed would be at minimum 20 business days. The left side cam shaft intake, exhaust and cam phaser.

I just picked up a 2022 3.6 Etorque yesterday and experienced the same thing. I didn't notice it on the Test Drive. But once I started driving it home, I started experiencing this horrible downshift from 3-2, then 2-1 as I drove it through traffic. Took it to the dealer today, and was told that there was a "learning process" for the engine and that it would smooth out in a few hundred miles.

After reading this forum and others, I'm worried, and starting to doubt what he said. It's only got 150 miles on it, and it's already starting this problem.

Just wondering if there was any update to on this thread for this problem.

Recently purchased a new 2022 Ram 1500 Limited w/ E-Torque. After purchasing and pulling into my neighborhood I noticed the truck downshifted rough from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1. Took it back to the dealer and they completed the quicklearn routine and made comments on the invoice that the truck was still experiencing rough shifting, so the tech completed "TCM Adaptation Procedure" It still didn't feel quite right when I picked it back up and now it is doing the same thing again, right back to the dealer.

They are now claiming they "can't duplicate and cannot feel the harsh shifting" When I say harsh shifting, it feels like my old Buick that was missing 2nd gear dropping from 3rd to 1st. It even feels like it struggles finding a gear when I'm taking turns in 2nd gear, almost like it's in neutral and lurches into 2nd when it finally decides.

I purchased a 2022 Laramie in Lexington, KY in May of 2022 and had the same issue. The dealership could not duplicate nor fix the issue. Truck ending up locking up going 70 mph down interstate. They had to replace the engine in July 2022...still have the same issue with hard shifting at 20 mph, 40 mph and sometimes when I slow down to stop. Still has not been fixed

I believe I've been having the same issues with my '22 Laramie Night Edition. Couldn't nail down exactly what was happening but it's been "lurchy" since I bought it, typically always when downshifting in the city or coming from a stop, it just takes off without gas sometimes. I have to engage the brakes much harder than any of my previous pickups too just to keep it from rolling forward. I assumed at first I just needed to get used to it, but it's been right at 6 months now and none of it has subsided, and I don't feel like should be happening on a $60k pickup.

Anyone end up getting a resolution to this? I suppose I need to start the process with the local dealer, but I bought mine out of town, so I'm not sure how this will go.

A little late to the party on this chat, but have any of you had any success? I bought a 2022 1500 big horn night edition last year and have had continuous problems after the first 200 miles. Everything from broken brackets in the doors, to have the throttle bottle replaced. My truck is going in tomorrow for the 4th time on figuring out the “lurching” and hard down shift that happens as I’m slowing. I changed my dashboard setting to view my gears and I’ve found that my truck stays in 4th gear until about 8mph then as it shift to 3rd there’s a lurch forward accompanied by a knock sound that is sometimes pretty loud.
I drove the same exact truck at a dealership last week and it drove smoother than anything I’ve driven. Now I for sure won’t back down until my truck is fixed.

I'm at a loss for what to do with this truck and how to handle the dealer. Anyone have any experience with this?
I too have this same issue. I have 2022 Rebel with etorque, hemi 5.7.
I have noticed this with 20k miles rough shift/ bucking 4-3-2-1 gears. Mostly I notice this when in mds mode (4 cylinder eco mode). Does yours do this as well in eco mode? When I turn off mds it seems to **** smoothly.
So far they have reset the tcm. That did nothing. Replaced the valve body. Did nothing. And recently replaced the transmission. I still notice rough downshift but a bit less noticeable. My truck has been to dealer 6 times. Very frustrating. I think I may start a claim with Stellantis support.
My truck has also had the engine block replaced and a lifter due to service engine light. I’m not sure what to do at this point because I like the truck and I got a great interest rate on it. Now to finance a vehicle is 5/6% so I’m not sure what to do. Please let me know If yours got repaired or any thoughts

Just got a 2022 Laramie with hemi and etorque last week and was experiencing exact same rough shift/ jerky transmission issues as described in this post. I know post ended last year but any updates please? Did service bulletins from ram cares help? City stop and go driving is not good.

Well. My truck is at the dealer again, rough downshift again. It’s been there 3 weeks, dealer contacted STAR. For support. They are telling the dealer to replace the valve body. AGAIN!!
They don’t know what’s wrong with my truck. What a joke!!! I will keep you all updated….

I noticed the majority of ram dealers here in New York are assholes as well. Sorry you are going through this man, keep us posted.

Good luck

2022 RAM 1500 eTorque 8884 miles experienced jumping at freeway speeds during my long commute last week, then last night some shuddering at low speeds, then when getting up to freeway speeds it popped out of gear rpm’s screaming and zero acceleration. Got stuck on a busy tollway. An awesome Good Samaritan stopped and helped push me off the main lanes to the shoulder. Something is dangerously wrong. I’ve lost trust in this new truck getting me to my destination.

The dealers and techs know you have major problems they, not Ram, can fix, obviously. The techs nor the service writers want t work pn and face a customer that is mad when they know when the truck leaves, it will be the same as it came in.

I got into a situation like this many years ago. A badly designed product that was destined to not work correctly. I had to work on them to get them out the door. I begged management to not buy them to begin with, then to get rid of them after they didn't listen.

We got a huge share of calls, cussings, and buybacks, at our expense, as the manufacturer went out of business.

I spent many a full day going from house to house putting band aids on turds that I knew would never work. I refused to sell even one to anyone, and had to apologize profusely to many a customer that bought from somene else.

What treatment you all are getting is appalling..but, they know they can't help you, and don't want to be put in the position of helplesness.

I'm not excusing their attitude at all. They should try, like I did. I knew it was no fix, but I at least made it better until the next time.

Fight for a new truck or LL those things. I wouldn't put up with it for all this time. Unfortunately, many of you have gotten the run around so long. Lemon Law time has probably elapsed.

Transmission valve body is now on order for replacement. From other comments it sounds like that might not solve the issue. I’ve been without a vehicle for over a week - no loaners available.
