Been watching with interest. Doesn't sound like any of these are a direct replacement for the pentastar though. More in the hemi sphere. Also 15% gas mileage improvement isn't all that impressive.

One of the comentators seemed to think that the 2.0L 4 would be the replacement for the pentastar. That's the engine in the jeep Wrangler. It was more in line with the power output but I just can't see a 4 cylinder in a full size Ram truck.

I still like the pentastar, it's a proven design even with it's faults. It's naturally aspirated and gets great gas mileage.

Three Youtube commentators perspectives.

Marspeed - heavy into all things mopar

Reignited - Cycle and Automotive A perspective of a Chrysler Tech

TKs Garage Claims to work at Stellantis

He also mentions a possible v-8.

Don't like to here they had production delays. Wonder why. I would not want one until real people have proven the longevity of it.

I've never driven a I6 but 6000 +/- seems like a low rpm for a small engine. (Guess I spoke to soon 2nd video explained it, or at least tried)

Chevy is already running a turbo 4 in their silverado. Ram adapting a turbo 4 for their base engine wouldn't be ground breaking, nor would it be out of the realm of possibility, especially since the new i6 is basically the turbo 4 currently being used but with 2 extra cylinders. I feel ram will likely be one of the last manufacturers to ditch the traditional v8.

This video has a comparison to the 5.7 and 6.4 Hemi they are intended to replace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7-dDV_lolM

The new Jeep options have worse mileage when towing compared to the existing, so it will be interesting to see how much loading it takes to loose the fuel economy advantage.

"so it will be interesting to see how much loading it takes to lose the fuel economy advantage." Not much when you are towing a trailer. But if you do lots of towing they have the Ecodiesel for that.

It'll be interesting to see how long those engines run before they go pop.

I'll never understand why they didn't just put forced induction on the Pentastar.

And I am not buying whatever that dude is selling.

My girlfriends 2020 Wrangler has the 2.0 4 cylinder and that Jeep moves very well for the size motor in it. Its torquey and pulls off the line hard. Because its torquey, it rarely goes over 3k rpm keeping MPG’s good. It sees a mix of city and interstate and is averaging 25mpg. I like the motor overall but it does sound like a sewing machine.

Don't see anything on that chart that indicates how RELIABLE that new engine is compared to the Hemi's...them hemis have been around awhile and he ave proved themselves to be some of the best engines ever...and you cannot beat that distinct Hemi sound!

Remember the old ad..." Yeah, it's got a HEMI!"?
