IMHO that engine is near end of life based on mileage, lifter tapping just another nail in the coffin. If the rest of the truck is still great, I'd sooner throw a used/rebuilt engine in it than try and rebuild the current one.

I agree, if your truck is otherwise in good shape, find a low milage wrecking yard engine. Swap it out and keep rolling.

270.000 miles? This engine is R.I.P ,fixing this engine make no sense anymore.

Put a Jasper remanufactured engine in it if the rest is in good shape, you'll get a peace of mind.

That's the route I'm going. my 2012 laramie with 208000 miles is going in the shop Tuesday to get a Jasper. I was getting the misfire in cylinder 3 and it's not the coil or plugs.

Do you know it is lifters and not valve spring? A valve spring would be worth fixing.

Yea the lifters are gone. I don't want to chance putting lifters and cam in an engine with over 200k miles. And I definitely don't want to get a new truck with the prices the way they are!

you can try a lubrication strategy, it has helped many people on the board, but not with those miles..

strategy 1

strategy 2
