so I’ve been considering a 2” or 1.5” puck type leveling kit for my 2WD 1994 ram. now I know the truck will handle different, but I don’t want it to handle bad or the steering to be loose. I’m almost done with my ball joints and tie rods so while the front end is apart now would be a good time to get this done, but I want to get it done right. If I need to purchase better shocks, drop type pitman arm/idler arm, longer sway bar links, or should I go with taller springs?

I’d appreciate any feedback or suggestions on what I should do or what you did on your set up.

Thanks in advance.

Pucks bind up the drive so it is rougher over bumps, I tried them first it was so bad I went to billstiens. Bills at 2.8 kinda floats a little more with the travel over 2.1. 2.1 is as close to factory ride as you can get, but because the shocks are higher quality then oem, its a nice firm ride. I prefer 2.8, but settled on 2.1, I do want to try 2,8 again at some point. That .7 inch makes a large difference. I'd go bills and if you want oem ride go 2.1.

I see it is a 2wd, they say bills wont work on that, I don't know why.

I've got 3'' pucks front and rear right now and I can confirm it rides like ****. Looking at a Zone kit with Fox now to get it riding right.

Oh the 4WD front shocks are a bit different, they have a sleeve on both ends unlike the rwd shocks. 2WD shocks have a sleeve at the bottom and a long bolt on the top. unfortunately billstein doesn't seem to have many options for my truck let alone a slight front end lift.

Wrong area. You are asking about a 2nd gen truck in the 4th gen section. 2” should be ok. I think over 2 is where you’d want an actual lift kit with correction hardware for your truck. Not sure if anyone selling stuff though. Could check skyjacker or rough country to see if they have leveling kits for your year. Being that old will be harder to find parts

my mistake, I swear I was in the second gen section. I think I will go with a 1.5” lift and skyjacker shocks just to be safe, they aren’t as good as billsteins I’m sure but hopefully the ride quality won’t be too bad?

Thanks for the recommendation, definitely a good website.
On this forum we have preferred vendors @Nick@GotExhaust is the go to for all things aftermarket. Last I checked other websites don’t offer forum member discounts

The cheaper you go the worse it's going to be. As previously stated, pucks bind and put extra compression on your stock springs causing a horrible front end ride. It will also cause your camber to be out of alignment. You have an older trucks so there should be some A-arm kits available if money is not a problem.

If you raise it, it will definitely have a negative effect towards the handling. Not saying it'll be totally ****, just not as good as factory.
Now if you lower it, correctly, it will dramatically improve the handling over factory. It'll handle like it's on rails then.
