Hi guys, I haven't been here for a while. I basically sold my Bighorn Ram in 2020 so I could buy a Wide Body Redeye. Which I still have and love, but I still totally miss my Ram and would like to buy another.

I am in the UK and imported my own Redeye which saved me around $25k to what it would have cost me to buy from a garage in the UK, so I am looking to import a new nearly new Ram myself.

1. So my question is this, my previous Ram had the word RAM on the back of the tailgate, nearly all of the RAM's I see for sale have the Ram Logo/Emblem. What do I search to get a RAM with the words on the back not the badge.
2. My RAM had plastic wide arches over the wheel arch, what package is this please.

Please see pic of my old Ram, this is basically what I want to buy again.

Thanks in advance!

The Rebel package has the large RAM logo. This fender flares are probably aftermarket.

Run your VIN through this site for a "build sheet" which will list all the standard and optional equipment Ram installed on your truck:

Ram Equipment Listing

The listing should include any exterior options although those wheel arch extensions look like aftermarket units possibly from Bushwacker. They are called "pocket flares" due to the little pockets with the exposed bolt heads.

Fantastic to see! It seems it was an option to have the word RAM "R_A_M Tailgate Nameplate" and I am guessing its the "Wheel Spats" ?

2019 RAM 1500 BIGHORN/LONESTAR CREW 4X4
  • * Front Wheel Spats
  • * "RAM" Door Badges
  • * MOPAR Rear Wheel Well Liners
  • * Front Wheel Well Liners
  • * Rear Wheel Spats
  • * "1500" Badge
  • * 4X4 Badge
  • * R_A_M Tailgate Nameplate
  • * Fixed Front Air Dams
  • * Active Front Air Dams

I will just need to keep searching on autotrader.com till I see one that's as close as possible to what I want.

Are there any other recommended sites? The location of the cars does not matter the company I use can collect the cars from anywhere.

Many thanks

Wheel spats are a separate assembly.

Those aren't wheel spats, as audiophile referenced, they are fender flares, and they are definitely aftermarket. The factory flares are smooth, they do not have the bolt holes. The flares with the bolt holes are known as pocket flares. Wheel spats are small pieces of plastic mounted behind the wheels.

Another good site is

Most of the RAM's, especially lower trim do not have whole rear wheel liners. You have to order them and install, which I actually have to do on MY 19 and just not done it yet. Unsure on Badge vs RAM, I have da Badge, LOL, but I also have lowly Bighorn. U have to check and see what package and included items if you order a truck and have shipped vs buying a used truck. Good Luck on yer Search. There was also a company that did left/right drive conversions if you buy a used ride from States and not have built for you specifically and ship. DITTO, the spats are not fender flares, those flares definitely look aftermarket.

Having a tailgate with R A M instead of the ram's head logo is NOT an option for any 5th gen Ram 1500 model. It comes standard only on the Rebel.

Here is a wheel spat. It's the small piece just behind the tire. Kind of like a mini mud flap...

Did you buy your Big Horn new? If so, where did you buy it from? What I mentioned above is for the USDM. I'm not very familiar with what options are available in other domestic markets. Plus, just when a person thinks they have these things figured out, along comes someone to shatter everything they though they knew about them. :D There always seems to be the odd configuration out there.

The RAM I bought from a uk reseller it was already in the UK just awaiting to be registered. And although the guy/company was good to deal with he doesn't currently have anything in that I like apart from a TRX and although I could possibly do a deal with this I am not sure I Want the running costs of it. I think real world MPG would be very low. I only get 9mpg with my redeye so dont need another doing the same. I actually had my last RAM gas converted so it could run on petrol and gas. This gave it the financial equivalent of around 22/24mpg which I was happy with, but can't see me getting that with the 6.2L Supercharged after gas conversion and it would also be a sin to gas convert the 6.2 engine. The 5.7 is a good engine and as I am going to be using as my everyday I don't want to bankrupt myself.

Thanks for the info, but I'm still not clear on your answer to my original question...was the truck new, or had it ever been registered to a previous owner?

When you say "gas converted" I'm assuming you meant natural gas?. I say that because over here, gas=petrol. :p

Hi Mikeru,

Yes it was brand new with delivery mileage only.

Gas Converted, I meant LPG Liquid Petroleum Gas which is a lot cheaper than petrol here in the uk, around 80p per litre, compared to petrol which is £1.80 per litre. Put that into gallons for you lot that's £7.20 GBP Per Gallon and that works out at around $9 a gallon!!

I am speaking to a company who has a night edition Laramie on its way to the UK and I have found out that all RAM's that are manufactured for the EU market come with the words RAM on the tailgate and not the badge. This is how come my Bighorn had the words on the back. I am looking to reserve that RAM which is due in around 6 to 8 weeks time :party36:

Good Lord! We are complaining about $5.00/gal. gasoline over here right now. Sounds like you have to have a second job just to be able to drive around! Hope that RAM works out for you.

its not for the faint hearted!! :D

With the LPG conversion though it brings down that cost by around $7.50 a gallon so better than just running on petrol alone. LPG doesn't give as much in mpg but its cheaper and it uses mostly LPG but pulls a little petrol but as long as you have LPG in the LPG tank its going to be cheaper than just having it running on petrol. You get a 200L tank in the back bed liner area which takes up 1/3 of the back but is covered by the Tonneau cover
