I have #3 Non-MDS lifter bearing failure on my 2013 RAM 5.7L.
Lifter's 5038785AD & 5038786AD.
I'm installing the 6.2L oil pump 68195993AD to increase the volume of oil to the lifter's. However when I pulled the lifter's out they were soaked with oil so I tend to believe the stock lifter's are of poor quality, I know the roller bearings changed in 2016.

I'm replacing the Cam with the 6.4L MDS OEM Cam 5038419AB.

The stock 5.7 valve springs 68080909AB have 5.7L & 6.4L listed under OEM replacement parts.
The 6.4L OEM springs 68277306AA, they don't have the 5.7L listed as a replacement parts.
So, do I need to replace the springs for the 6.4L Cam?
Or, can I just add a shim to the stock 5.7L springs or leave them as is?
(My stock springs have pink paint on them, I assume that's to identify them).
The Mopar site doesn't list any specs on the springs.

Thanks,
Bruce

When I replaced 5.7 MDS cam with 6.4 MDS cam, I kept the 5.7 springs, since as you said they share the same part number.
When I ran the car they was no issue with the cam and springs, the shop didn't shim the springs.

Well, my reason for keeping the MDS is I drive highways to and from work. I count on any fuel consumption reduction from the MDS, even if a little.

For me I noticed my MDS only works on level flat ground between 50 and 90 Kms, I personally can't wait to afford a new cam with hellcat lifters and lose the MDS, MDS was great when I had my 1500 but with a 2500 .."not". I'm saving up to change it out before I get any engine problems (might never have engine problems) but why take a chance.

Why are you keeping MDS ? Its the most useless system ever invented.

Do a proper rebuild instead ;) you need to bump the idle speed with a custom tune as well.

What do you mean? MDS was a terrific Science Fair for Daimler-Benz. *snark*

I assumed MDS saved fuel! I do a lot of highway, spend majority of my time in rural B.C. and gas is over $2 a litre, premium is $2.39 (that's $10.87 CDN per gallon, $8.43 USD).

Damn, guess I'll stop complaining about our prices. Might even drive the truck more & say "could be worse".

That Canadian gallon he's referring to,is the Imperial gallon, which is 4.54 litres, the US gallon is 3.78 litres.

At least the U.S. isn't still stuck in a monarchy (yet). Then again, the French foisted the metric system on the world. In college they made us use both. What a colossal waste of education time.

If you install the mopar performance springs they will be good for the extra lift of the cam and do not need any shims.

If you're talking about the 625 lift Mopar springs, like these,i think they've been discontinued,so they might be a little harder to find now a days.

I think I would prefer to see the prices in Imperial gallons vs. Liters.
I remember Imperial gallons from when I was a kid and we went into Canada fishing.

I see liters and think small coke or water bottle and think OMG it's going to cost a small fortune to fill up! hahaha

I thought the MDS was only on the 1500's and not the 2500's???

No matter which gallon you use,it's a big fortune to fill anything with fuel these days,
