Ok so to start, I wanted to paint my calipers so they wouldn’t look like crap all the time from rust. I was going to clean up my stock OEM ones. Started at the rear and and removed drivers side. Turns out they were in pretty bad shape as they’ve been on the truck for 7 years and 140,000kms. So I decided to buy some remanufactured ones from a reputable auto parts store. I even opened the top box to make sure they were the right ones and it was actually a remanufactured Chrysler caliper to my surprise. So I left the store without checking the second exact same box. Got home and opened them up and noticed that the other caliper is a completely different brand with a completely different finish on it. The caliper is meant for my truck just a completely different brand and finish. I’ve replaced calipers before and never come across this. So my questions are, is this ok performance wise? Will it affect anything? Would any of you guys be ok with putting them on your truck like that? Also like I said I’m painting them and I don’t want them turning out different colours because the finish is different. Would that affect the painting?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks RamForum

Did they want cores? I would bet many people buy calipers and arent told they are remans, but they are remans. Bottom line, yes I'd run it, calipers are simple, if they are reman'd they are good to go.

Yes the store takes cores back. I would have rebuilt them myself but apparently nobody sells the kits anymore. And I didn’t want to wait the time for Amazon to ship them. So I decided to buy new ones and paint them right away. Also they were the last set the store had in stock because of a no tax promo they had going on. But now I’ve been debating on putting them on my truck for 3 days lol So I decided to ask you guys what you thought haha.

First, epoxy coating, which is the best you can do without powder coating, won't last. Trust me.
If the calipers fit, I'd use them, yes.
Get some caliper covers like these and they'll hold up and not fade or wear off like epoxy coated one's eventually do.

I'm not as picky as some. I just used some all purpose cleaner, a quick wire brushing, and put some Rust Oleum on them while they were on the truck. Still look pretty good a couple of years later. I wasn't worried about the back side, no one can see them.

My truck won't qualify as a show truck, but they look decent, certainly better than not painting them.

Ya they look good. I actually just heard about these. What are they made of? They won’t rust?

I would use them. I did the same thing, sprung for all new calipers and painted them first. I used G2 caliper paint and a year and a half later they still look good. I used it for my tow hooks as well. Only downside is they're white to match my truck so they're a ***** to keep clean lol.

MPG's, completely powder coated, but not sure if they're aluminum or steel. No rust at all after like 3~ years either.

Just my opinion...I don't know what you paid for the remans, but I would venture that if you would have checked out rockauto, their price would have been very competitive for BRAND NEW. Delivery is a matter of days. I have done a lot of business with them for many years....never had any problems....and saved a lot of $$$$.

He's in Canada, rockauto takes more then a couple days to get up here.If you're in a bind in Canada, and you need the truck back on the road in a day or 2,you're pretty well stuck with taking what the local auto parts stores have in stock.
