Need to replace the stock OEM Bilstein shocks. What are the "go to" replacements? Fox 2.0's or 5100's?

Also, some have mentioned the "5th" shock that's behind the spare tire. Is that the same size as the rest or completely different?

Currently leaning towards 5 x 5100's and the Thuren Fabrication King Steering Damper 13+ OEM Fit while I'm at it. Looking for input. Thanks in advance guys.

What made it blow out? That should be a good deciding factor on upgrade or replace with the same. If it blew out from harder driving then it’s time to upgrade. If it’s bad from wear and tear then just replace with the same.

Local shop is recommending Rough Country V2’s. Any insight?

Nothing off-road. Did some heavy towing last week that had the front end pointing skyward pretty bad. Thinking that had something to do with it. Over extending.

Rancho 9000 have adjustable I think. I would avoid rough country for towing and hauling. Bilstein are usually good for towing and hauling. May want to look into airbags and a WDH for heavy towing in the future as an added protection.

If you still have a 3/36000 warranty in effect, probably don't want to go back to stock but why not have it replaced on warranty and then you would have a new shock to sell.

5100's have a lifetime warranty. Have you tried contacting them?

Are 5100’s the stock shock?

No they aren’t. They are 4600s. I don’t know what the fox pumpkin shock is. You need to take it off and get the measurements. And ask them. I’m just leaving my 4600 on there.

My stock Outdoorsman front shocks are significantly heavier than the Bilsteins. The piston rod is much thicker. When I put the springs on the Bilsteins you could see the flex - I left them on for a month or so and then gave them away.
My OEM's rode and handled better, and I didn't add any lift to the Bilsteins.

Your Bilstein should be lifetime warranty if bought from a legitimate vendor.

We are talking about the stock OEM Bilsteins...
