lol - another topic I am pulling from my 2019 build thread. Picked this up a little while ago. Was an old wrecker, but the guy I bought it from took that off before selling. Not sure what plans I have for this yet, hopefully just make a plaything for the property we have and surrounding woods.

Have an old Studebaker bed that looks very similar to the old PW bed, and per my quick measurements will fit. Current stock engine is missing some parts, but assuming it's locked up, possibly trans or tcase as well. Thinking of throwing an old mopar v8/trans/tcase in and play with it that way.

I’m not sure I would say versus ha but that is a cool picture and what a truck to have; that is both of them :)

My dad had a 55 ford when I was growing up as a daily driver In the 80’s. I remember sitting in the driveway when he would go to friends' houses and I would shift it, motorboat sounds for the engine, and I would spend HOURS shifting this thing through all sorts of imaginary worlds. Seeing this truck and the overall design makes me remember those days with a smile. I loved the column shifter of that era as well but it looks like this is on the floor. Still a ******** machine. Thanks for sharing.

Nice truck. My neighbor restores vintage trucks and tractors on 10 acres. It's referred to as "Truck Farming" when they're planted in the fields forever.

I've been driving past this abandoned large assortment of construction equipment vehicles for over 25 years. Based on what I can see from the road, it must have been this way since the mid-1960's. Probably some vintage Power Wagons amongst the vehicles due to our mountainous location.

That place looks awesome, would be an all day event just to walk through there and look at all the equipment. I'm sure there are some treasures in that group.

My bet is that some of that equipment was shown at work in the 1971 Vanishing Point movie with the mountain canyon road construction of I-70 between Gypsum, Colorado and Cisco, Utah. The bulldozers used in the final scene in the crash of Kowalski's 1970 Challenger might be sitting still well preserved in our low humidity climate.

In 1975 as a teenager I worked at a Dodge Truck dealership. Our parts and customer pickup cars included a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with a 440 Magnum. I drove it crazy once around the block, whereas, another Lot Boy took it out to the sand and gravel pits and broke the engine mounts. Our dealership fixed it and repainted it from purple to white. It went on the used car lot for $1,800. I was interested, but didn't like getting even dismally lower MPG then my pony car's high performance V8. Sellers want some big bucks for a 53 year old vintage car.

In high school I drove a 73' power wagon with a 440 in it. We did a a mild cam swap and a few other thing to it. It was a awesome truck still kicking myself for selling it when the transmission blew up. Gas was only .99cents but if you opened up the secondaries you could watch the fuel gauge go down lol.

NICE !!!!!

The flat black looks killer…but keeping that old patina would have also !
Yes, i was trying to keep it original patina but i had parts from a few truck plus new tailgate so it was too patched for my liking so i painted it. Put some red under the black and sanded thru in some spots to highlight some detail.

Nice! The '47 to '50s Power Wagons were called 'flat fender' Dodges. It's either a WDX or a B-1-PW. Yours appears to be a 1 ton version. These were quite similar to the issue series, WWII trucks. I've worked on a number of these Power Wagons, years ago, of course. They are true classic trucks.

Notice how thick the outer sheet metal is?

Whatever you do try to save that flathead motor. They've getting scarce.

Best of luck whatever you do with it.

Dusty
