Yes, this is what causes shortages. People get greedy and buy more than they need and 99% of the time if you continue to buy what you normally do the odds are the shortage doesn't happen. I remember the toilet paper "shortage", was so stupid and unnecessary. Really, everything else going on and people was worried more about wiping their b u t t? This is why I don't believe 80% of what the drama media say. They are more interested in ratings than they are your life! I always heard if you believe a lie is true long enough, you will believe it's true eventually. Believe none of what you hear and 1/2 of what you see! (Judge Joe Brown)

School is out or almost out-meaning the parents driving their kids to school with diesels have no need to stock up on DEF, leaving the shelves bare.

There was a pretty good stretch where the nearest Wally Worlds were chronically out of DEF, as was NAPA. I got some at TSC. Price has nearly doubled.

I've read you don't want to leave DEF sitting around too long. So hoarding may not work out well for those that do it. There has been no lack of it in the stores in my area.

2 years is the shelf life but thats in perfect conditions. Storage should be between 68deg to 23deg F. i have not seen a shortage at all and the most i see missing would be delay in shipping. I have 24gals sitting on the shelf but i have 3 trucks running it.

I won't buy DEF that is more than a couple months old
I try to store 2 jugs in my garage, where the Sun can't hit it.

I am down to 1/3 tank of DEF in my Eco-diesel & i have 1 jug in the garage.
I will be buying 2 more jugs soon

I have noticed that too many stores & truck stops, display the DEF just inside the door of their store & it is right under the plate glass window, the sun strikes it every day.
I would never buy from them, it would be like storing DEF right next to the hot water heater, not good.
