I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 at 90,000 miles, and I’m certain it had orange coolant in it since factory because I checked it last week. We are preparing for a camping trip to Yellowstone in a couple weeks and I had the dealer do a coolant flush last week. I checked today and noticed it was replaced with purple. Is that a problem? I know you can’t mix colors, but wondered too if dealer would have flushed all the orange out so not to worry?

I know there was orange in it to begin with and I’ve never changed it though.

Either way, if they did a full flush, there should not be an issue.

Okay, just wanted to be sure if I needed to call the dealer out on it before we go for a 3000 mile trip.

It only looked orange, the factory purple coolant is well know for changing colors. It actually turns to an orange-ish rose color over time. It's probably harder to see in the gassers. With the EcoDiesel and HD trucks that have opaque degas/coolant bottles you can see this easily. The best part is the coolant will actually turn back to purple when it's warm/hot.
This color change of the Mopar purple OAT is well documented.

You can't really go by color, especially if you buy antifreeze at a auto parts store.

They don't sell Mopar OAT antifreeze in regular stores, but the store clerks will tell you that what they carry is compatible, IT IS NOT

Some Dodge Dealerships carry 2 types of MOPAR OAT Antifreeze

One type OAT should be used in our Rams
The other type OAT is made for FIAT vehicles
both are different colors

I don't know why Mopar does not print what each type of coolant is & mark it plainly on the container

You are good to go. My 17 only stayed purple a few months then turned to orange. Wife's Charger done the same thing. Enjoy your trip without worries!

Your dealer did ya right. It's Mopar OAT antifreeze and it's purple when new. Over time/heat cycles it'll change to an orange -ish color.
