pretty good combo. You always want the high performance series with redline and nothing else, not the professional series. 5w30 would likely be a little smoother.

I would read oil filter thread and cut open the srt filter after a run and see if it is pliable or stiff. If it is stiff, move to known 100 percent spun microglass, if it is pliable, you are good.
This is Arizona and summer time. Just want to get it in there. No telling what oil the dealer used, if they even changed it.

I read to fast. Switched to RP.
Take a clean, lint-free cloth and wipe that filter at the top when you get your RP filter. If you see dirt and/or sparkling metal, I'd suggest not using it. I have a bunch of those RP filters here that are like that, so I decided not to use them on the RAM 1500. I don't know what Royal Purple's cleanliness standards are. But from what I've seen, they're not great.

That's a solid choice. Actually, the quart bottle is called the "white bottle."

Red Line lists 5W-20 as oil that meets the MS-6395 specification, so you're covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

After several emails back and forth with Mr. David Granquest, they agreed to list 0W-20, 0W-30, and 5W-30 as meeting Ms-6395 as well. Just check out their website.

Per the owner's manual, the oil you use has to either meet MS-6395 or be API licensed, but not both at the same time. This is awesome news!

That's awesome. I was worried about giving the dealer 7 quarts of Redline and a Fram XG Filter at its first service. But now if they argue I can just point them to the website and say it is MS-6395 compliant. I actually bought 2 x 4quart containers of 5W-20 and 6 x 1 quart (same price per quart as on special) of the same Redline oil so I have 2 x oil changes here ready to use. I also have 4 x 4quarts of Redline 5W-30 to use in the hotter months of the year. Locally they say 12 months or 12.000kM (7200miles) BUT not to exceed 7500kM if basically doing anything short of driving 100kM stretches of sedate roads with no load in the vehicle. Given I picked it up in January and its at almost 6000kM now it looks like it'll be getting Redline 5W-20 in a month or so for Winter and then at the 12 months service in January the dealer can put 5W-30 in it.

I'm sorry, it happened to me just when I was about to put the filter on. I was glad I caught it because I don't want all that dirt in the engine. I would recommend a Fram FS2 or XG2 filter, but having used them in the past, they are a PITA to install and remove. Cleanest choice for me was Purplator BOSS 24651. If you want extra piece of mind, get yourself two packs of cheap neodymium magnets from Harbor Freight and put the little buggers on the filter.

Wouldnt that be an issue with champion labs standards vs royal purple? Ofcourse im sure in their contracts with each other there may be "quality standards"

I received rusted Royal Purple filters before, and I had to return them. I think it's a storage/transportation issue that occurs before final packaging. During this in-between phase, the filters get tarnished. Also, Royal Purple sources its filters from multiple places, so I'm not sure that they still use Champion Labs for the RP 20-820 filter.

Royal Purple managed to destroy its reputation by cutting corners and lying to its customers. The easiest way to stay out of trouble is to avoid their products altogether. As a brand, they are dead to me. Like many others, it was the first "boutique" oil I came across a decade ago, and I decided to try it. Shortly after that, they were bought by Calumet Specialty Products Partners and squeezed for their brand equity. They cheapened their blends and came out with their API licensed sub-par oils and can barely pass the licensing requirements. It's not that Royal Purple can't make good oil. Their corporate overlords don't allow them to do so because of profits.

The only thing they won't cut back on is the purple die because that's what sells the product. It's a gimmick. Many manufacturers use a thin die to differentiate their products. Red Line uses a dash of orange, so you know that what you're pouring into your engine is the real deal. But using copious amounts of purple and then claiming that that's what makes your oil unique and perform is ridiculous at best.

No need to be sorry. Thank you for the heads up. I will do a QC check upon getting them in my hands.

Hey guys

Do you think it's going to matter if I mix some 5W-20 Redline with 5W-30?

I bought 2 x 4 quarts of 5W-20 but they refunded it telling me Redline no longer make it. So I have 5 x 1quart bottles that I got locally, which if I can mix it with 5W-30 I can use it. I am trying to find some 5W-20 locally elsewhere (as in Australia) but no-one seems to have any left. Summit won't ship it and from other places the freight makes it way too expensive.

Received today. Just a little light oil near the threads. Nothing shiny.

Here is another tid-bit of info if anyone is going to try Liqui Moly New Generation Moly Gen in the green bottles. You cannot mix it with their Ceretec (not compatible) but CAN be mixed with the MOs2. I did an inquiry with Liqui Moly in Germany and this was their advice. Hope this helps?

Best regards,

-Mike

Badest rood rack ever? I would like to see some creative solutions for roof rack on top not that has aero dynamics for the tire and hide the tire a little better, but this is purdy. Not for mall queens though, you wont fit the parking garage. I like getting old, I cant even remember the last time I went to a mall.

Do you know when that happened? I bought some about a month ago to try out....
The foreign country msds have been updating since january amd just the other say the us msds updated to match the ones for everywhere else. Not sure if the current jugs are with this formula or not. I see this as a positive change imo
