Mine's about 50'-75' of direct sight, which sucks. If there is a truck parked next to me, a bush, a leaf floating on the wind :happy175:, tough luck because it won't work.
Was like that before the windows were tinted too.. FOB batteries have been replaced, zero difference. Chalked it up to a RAM thing. Luckily I park right outside the kitchen window, so I can atleast remote start my truck on those cold winter mornings. Now work is a whole different story.

Is the distance issue the same for the lock/unlock function? I'm not sure if they use the same receiver in the truck.

Maybe your computers GOOGLE is broke :)

Take the FOB apart
Set the battery aside
Remove the Green Circuit Board
Look at the back of the half of the FOB with the buttons on the outside, flip that part over & look at the little tabs on the inside, are they centered ? or offset ?

Now take out Q Tips or something similar & something that will clean any electrical surface without causes damage

There are 20 or more Youtube videos about cleaning FOBs

Yeah both work about the same distance from the truck

I don't think that has anything to do with the range. Mine has been like this since brand new and the buttons work fine.. the range is just ****.

This is so frustrating, I love my truck but this factory remote start is a joke. I see the posts about the chin thing or take the circuit board out of the casing. That is bull crap to have to do this. I am just about at the point to go aftermarket, more reliable and better range. When you live where it is cold and snowy its nice to start it a few times so when you come out its nice and warm and windows are defrosted.

Next time that you try to Remote Start your RAM & it does not work

Remotely Unlock the Doors & then try to Remote Start it again
That should wake up the Wireless Ignition Node
------------------------
Remember when you grabbed your Transistor Radio & the music got bit louder
===========================
Does your chin extend the range of your FOB ?
What about Gatorade ?

...........................................................................
Try this

Other Starting issues, PASSIVE IGNITION

Better than my wifes Subaru Crosstrek. Range for remote starter is about 15', literally. Not joking. And the Subarus have a feature where the car shuts off after you open the door so you start it, take 3 or 4 steps then it shuts off when you open the door. In the 5 years we have had it we have used the remote start maybe 7 or 8 times and we live in western PA.
My driveway is about 30' from my side porch and the remote start or door locks will not work from my porch. If I take a couple of steps towards the car and hold the FOB up to my chin it will work then. Dealer said it is normal and there is nothing they can do about it.

Put all your windows down and start walking away. Keep hitting your lock button until it goes out of range. Then get just back in range and try auto start. Do same test with windows up. Are the results different?

The window tint didn't create any issues on my previous trucks. As mentioned it could be worse though.

With some Rams, the FOB is receiving the signal from the ignition switch. It is called a Wireless Ignition Node, ( WIN Module )

With other Rams, the FOB is receiving the signal from the Module that is mounted on the rear wall of the cab, right next to the Cab Vent on the drivers side

It is called a Keyless Entry Receiver Hub

My '18 rebel I can usually start from inside my work, which according to Google Maps is about 180' from roughly where I park.

I used to start it from my apartment, which was through a few walls, and still probably 100'+ (OG apartment was on the back of the building, truck was on the other side of the street, and in front/down. Second apartment I had line of sight, and only probably 30', as I couldn't really hear it, so I always watched from the window to make sure the lights flashed)

I actually stepped it off the other day. I was walking up to my truck from behind and remote started it from as far as away as I've ever seen it start and it was about 70 feet give or take a few steps. Most of the time it's under 50 feet. I also have at least a 3 second delay from the time I push the button twice on my remote and when it actually starts and that doesn't matter if I'm 70 feet away or standing next to the truck. The delay is not an issue just wondering if that has anything to do with what type of remote start system I have?

Not sure. I watch for the lights, and I usually have to hit it a 3rd time. almost like the 1st press is a "wake up", then it reads the 2 for remote. But I might also just be impatient.

Yep I have to do the same thing. I start pushing the unlock button and watch for the lights. Once it unlocks the truck then I will lock it back then if both work at this distance I have a chance of it starting. Sometimes it will start then and sometimes I have to get closer. I am glad it does work from inside the house which isn't far but through a few walls.

I know guys b*tch about Uconnect app/service price but this distance thing is one of the reasons I have it. Like when I leave for my shift and 5 miles away I can't remember if I locked it or not for example. Open the app and hit lock.
To me it's worth it. Not promoting it just saying for some it's a necessary convenience.

Yeah it's a cool feature. I had similar feature on my F150 (they call it Ford Pass). I never used it. I don't like letting my truck idle long. The remote start using the FOB allows the truck to warm up or cool down a little but doesn't idle long enough to do much harm. For me it's too temping to start the truck using the app and let it run for 10-15 minutes and that's hard on a gas engine over time in my opinion.

It's a federal mandate for remote starts to run for only 15 minutes, regardless if its uconnect activated or FOB. Start it 3 minutes before either way and it is good enough. In the colder weather the diesels will high idle @ approximately 1200 rpm so it warms quicker and is not as bad.
