Badest rood rack ever? I would like to see some creative solutions for roof rack on top not that has aero dynamics for the tire and hide the tire a little better, but this is purdy. Not for mall queens though, you wont fit the parking garage. I like getting old, I cant even remember the last time I went to a mall.

Nice, someone knew what they were doing. BURLA, What's a Mall??? I would have to travel an hour for an alleged one, and there is (1) actually in Central TX and another one that is half empty, (since Sears went out), but the most "Modern" mall in this area, well they call it a mall, BUT actually just a chitload of stores right next to each other all with separate builds and not connected in any way like a mall. SO U get to walk outside and walk to the next place in sometimes 110 degree heat, YUP, makes sense to me, LOL.

Do you really need

Synthetic Oil in Aa newer truck?

That will get you 1000 opinions, all different. Yes you can run dino, maybe a blend, or full synthetic, really your Opinion. I never run anything but full synthetic, but it gets a LOT hotter here than in NJ. The only thing that does not have full synthetic in is my HD 30 oil for my Riding Lawn Mower, everything else gets full, even my 16 YOA MC. All IMHO...

ADDED: And I use 100% full synthetic filters with my synthetic oil also. Costs more, but "filters" better, nothing worse than a collapsed/failed paper filter, just causes all sorts of issues, but of course, just my lowly BOIRD opinion.

Something suburbia invented before the advent of amazon and costco, that will likely suffer the same fate as the 8 track tapes.
ME got no more 8 tracks, all of mine were in various cases that Someone else "Liberated" out of my 67 Chevy back in the day. I still got some cassettes tho.

ADDED: 8 Track music sounded a lot better than cassette, IMHO...

Not if you got a 1970 Pontiac LeMans with a 400 like I did. Sloppy, crude motors with no gizmos that exhaust flames don't beat up the oil.

Now days, a number of vehicle makers demand only synthetic oil for exactly the opposite reason. They're pushing engines and oils way hard now.

Advantage of digital music is no more people liberating my cases of tapes or Cd's like they used to or listening to the same thing over and over because I'm driving and don't want to dig through a case to switch discs/tapes. I do remember multi disc Cd changers that I could never remember which disc was in what slot.

This thread not only helped me, it helped my wife's car. I changed her oil and filter to synthetic and a mobil 1 filter. She drives 700 miles a week. She says it is running better. Her car calls for Dexos oil only. Thanks to Burla and the rest.

I switched my wife's Jeep GK to HPL 0W-20 motor oil. 750ppm Moly, PAO+POE, not too bad. TBN for this oil is about 14. I've seen it run for 26K miles with life left in it. She will run it by OLM going forward. This is good stuff!

@HEMIMANN what were you saying about High Performance Lubricants not selling to consumers?

Did my first oil change today. On my 2017 there is no sway bar by oil drain plug. Had 82% oil life left on monitor. Changed because do not know what dealer put in, if anything. Removed filter, had AC filter installed. Replaced with Royal Purple 10-48. On mine, the steering rack is all up in there with the filter. 10-48 is all that fit. Tried a 20-500, no joy. Put in 7 qt of Redline 5W-20. I heard the engine quite a bit before the change. I just got this truck but driven her 3000 miles. After oil change she doesn't even purr. I cannot hear a lot of engine noise. Pleased with the first 3 miles...lol. Oil pressure before and after the change was the same at idle, 54 psi.

I thinking of going to 5w-30 for the summer as I will be towing our travel trailer and the weather looks to be pretty hot this summer. anyone out there gone to the thicker oil ?
A little less then 1/2 the forum runs 30 weight or 0w40 in the mds hemi, there are some threads and polls on it, no problem.

NEXT oil change if occurs during summer months (10 of them here), otherwise stay with 5W 20. But with fuel prices so high, me thinks just gonna change on "time" vs mileage this year. But then, my 4 YOA truck now just turned 20K on the odometer, dang it, lol.

bulk DEF

If you have DEF diesel there is some news of it running out, with supply issues. It says it has a 2 year shelf life, long term this might be a loss. But get this, urea is used in fertilizer and since the russia thing, there is no fert on the market, causing China to use most of it's urea on the production of fertilizer, thus there is a serious lack of DEF on the market. what a nightmare...

Two years in cool, ideal conditions. It is temperature sensitive, and I have read it is photoreactive. In AZ summer heat a couple months is more like it.

I wnet with 5w-20. a couple guys pointed out to me that I might get slightly better mileage with 20wt. and am bout to tow 1700-2000 miles so at these gas prices, every little bit helps. by the way, did I say how much fun it is to change the oil filter on a 5.7 hemi.

You may see up to 1 mpg difference unloaded (if that), towing it won't make a difference and you probably want thicker oil at that point because it's better protection when the engine is working hard.

Towing in the summer i wouldnt want anything less than a 5w30 in these trucks at the temps they run. Is it redline 5w20?
