Even though it wouldn’t match your cab roof rack, a gobi style rack with a ladder would look amazing on your truck

After you said this, I thought about making a ladder. However I do not have that much free time on my hands right now :Big Laugh:

Update:

So plans changed on the Camper Shell situation. Got the prinsu style rack built and was about to install it on the shell, and when we went to line everything up I noticed some cracking going on near the mount holes. I was already slightly nervous putting 500+ lbs on top of the fiberglass shell so I decided before we started drilling holes to just scrap the rack on that particular shell anyway. So on marketplace it went. The search for a white 4th Gen 6.4 shell continues....

In the meantime I repaired a 8inch crack in the tent shell and painted it OD Green. I think it came out great!

I didn't really grab a picture but the Green on the shell matches the green in the Tuff Stuff logo, so that's a win to me!

I have to stop watching your thread. Every time I see it, it makes me want to buy that damn roof rack. It loos sooooooo good. Like they had exactly what you've done with the truck in mind when they designed it.

For the price it's hard to beat! I think I've had it for around year now. everything has held up well. Lights are bright and no water has gotten in. The only problem I've had thus far is some leaking into the cab. However that was my own fault with the install of the nutserts. Silicone is your friend when drilling on the roof.... So look for a headliner drop + Hushmat install sometime this summer.

Me and my buddy with the Ford are in the process of making one for his truck. Parts wise It's estimated to come out to around $175. Hopefully here soon I'll have a write up on how to make those prinsu style racks for cheap, and with minimal metal tools.

I was thinking windshield urethane for the nutserts. I've had nothing but issues with silicone throughout the years. Always seems to leak. Granted pookey is a pain in the ass if it gets anywhere you don't want it, but it seals like no other.

3m just so happens to make it in white.

That or 3m's 5200. Either would seal nicely.

Ohh that's a good idea. I'll get some on order and see how it does.

Got the last of the little projects done before our first long trip of the season.

Got the front bumper ready for action by adding some reinforcement, and tow hooks. I tried to save a couple of dollars by making my own tow hooks. I 100% should have just bought the ones from Barnes 4wd. It took hours just to drill 15/16 holes in 3/4" thick metal.

Finished product.

The other project I got finished up was mounting my Maxtrax, and pressurized PVC water tank.

I'm able to fill the tank easily on that side, and it will help balance the weight since it's opposite the gas tank.

Annular cutter for going big in steel. That what I used for the 1.25" holes for the parking sensors.

As for water tank I was thinking in the sparetire well under the bed.

But either way, looking good!

Thanks! I will be adding that to the list to get.

I ultimately would love to have the water tank under the bed where the spare goes. But these PVC tank setups are just so easy to make and place on a rack. One day when I'm able to quit my 2 jobs and go full time as a social media influencer I'll get those kinds of projects done. :roflsquared:

Trip update:

Did 5 days through the badlands, and the black hills. Truck preformed like a champ through it all. The Icons did everything they claim to do. The handling on the dirt and rocks was insane. I had total control and could go through the trails much faster. The only thing lacking is the factory track bar. I can feel the wiggle at speed. The Superlift springs have been holding up well. Still no sag and they handle to trails with all that weight in the back like a champ.

With the removal of the factory bumper, and addition of the ADD one my fender liners decided to suicide themselves on the drive through the prairie. Luckily a little hole and some zip ties fixed that right up.

I've been dragging my feet on the spare tire situation for a while now. I just haven't had the budget to drop $1000 on a premade solution, or the time to build one. However I have been scouring marketplace for solutions. Lo and behold a tiregate popped up for sale at a good price so I had to snag it. So far I am loving it. It swings nicely and latches well. It'll get tested when we go to Colorado in a few weeks.

Welcome. I always wanted mine on the tailgate but vertical, that one is just as rad though.

I would I agree. Ultimately I would like something like the expedition one system. You get to have maximum bed usage + extra storage.

However for what I paid and it's usefulness I'm really excited about the tiregate. I like the uniqueness of it. My one concern is the bits of open space but with my non slip mat nothing has even moved yet.

CO trip update:

We spent 5 days out in the front range of Colorado for what is now turning into an annual trip. We camped 3 of the 5 days out there. It was a wonderful time! The truck really impressed me while we were out there. She tackled everything out there with ease. The first few days we were there it was dry and honestly had no worry doing the trails we did. However day 5 while we went looking for some abandoned mines in the area and the bottom fell out. We had anticipated this and tried to plan accordingly. However due to some either outdated or wrong trail reports we ended up on a fairly gnarly trail. It was made much worse with the rain. Nothing but slick rock going up the mountain with 0 space to abandon the trail and turn around. With some speed and the Icons keeping everything on the ground we were able to make it up and get back down a safer route. In that moment I was thankful for every modification I had done. It also helped reinforce the idea that I don't need 37's... Knowing I could give it hell was a much better feeling than worrying about a CV shaft breaking. After that experience adding a winch moved even higher on the priority list.

I am in need of a new Air Compressor. The auto store special completely crapped the bed on this trip airing up the 35's. Any recommendations would be awesome!
