About a year ago my check engine light came on. And about the same time the ECO light no longer came on, and I'm noticing a dramatic loss in fuel efficency. Could the check engine light be related to the ECO light no longer coming on? I'm guessing the engine no longer drops down from 6 to 4 cylandars.

The ECO light just means you are 'being a good boy', and going easy on the acceleration. It is not related to the MDS, this is a common misconception.

I had a PCV valve go bad a few years back, caused a check engine light. Once that happened, the ECO light would not come on. No remote start, and I think a few other things didn't work either. The computer shuts down lots of things when the CEL light comes on.

Thanks. When you had the PCV valve issue was your fuel efficency worse?

Interesting that the check engine light has been on for about a year and you wouldn't try to find out why.

I would see what code or codes are stored and go from there.

You could either get a code reader or go somewhere that can read them for you.

It is pretty tough to guess what the problem is without some direction.

It would also be helpful if we knew what engine you have. The Hemi 5.7 has MDS the 3.6 does not.

hey guys, newbie here.
I came here to see if you gents could help me with my issue that is similar to this.
Issue:
My CEL intermittently comes on stays on for varied amounts of time (sometimes just a shut off/restart fixes it).
What I have noticed is that when it comes on my ECO notification that comes on (usually when coasting on the hwy) no longer comes on.
Also when the CEL comes on/ECO notification not displaying when it should the truck has issues starting (similar to a bad plug).
Trusted mechanic (of 15+ years) thinks it's the ECO management that is causing (cylinders being stuck shut) it and thinks that disabling that might stop the issue then we can work on a fix (possible fixing cylinders)>

Was wondering if anyone had this issue and what the fix was?
