Yesterday the radio started squealing. At first i thought it was an air leak from the engine or window. Really high pitched squeeeeeeeeek for about a second or two, then it would go away, then squeak again about 5 seconds later. I turned off the headunit and it stopped. It eventually went away. That was weird. Anyone else ever have this?

Are you sure it was a squeal and not a beep, the Uconnect 5 system has a speed alert system. Check your settings and see if it is activated.

It was definitely a squeal. Wasn't even moving. Was in a parking lot.

Ok, very strange. Did it come directly from the radio or through the speakers?

The headunit. I turned the speakers down and it still made the noise. It stopped when I turned the unit off.

Keep an eye on it and if it happens again possibly record the sound for the dealer.

Mine makes a squeal after shutting the truck completely off. If I sit there, there is a 5-10 second squeal that I do not know where it is coming from, but the truck and all the accessories are off?

To be perfectly honest, I'm an idiot. After extensive troubleshooting I was able to determine that the source of the squeal was the squeezy water bottle I had in my dash cup holder. Basically it was air escaping.

Sounds like something I would also do! Actually sitting at work and my coffee mug was doing that and thought it was my laptop. :D

Many years ago I bought a used BMW. It started making this weird buzzing noise. Could not for the life of me figure out where it was coming from. Eventually took it to the shop. A couple hours later they called and said they discovered the issue....the previous owner left a pager in the glovebox.
