Hello

I lifted my 5th Gen Ram 1500
With a Spindle lift and need
1" To 1-1/2" spacers In the
Rear only

My question is what the min/max spacer that can be used without cutting or lengthing the OEM studs?
Or if needed are they hard to do DYI ?

Also recommendations on any particular brand to use?
I did read they should be
Hubcentric ?

I wouldn't recommend wheel spacers period...you should of bought your wheels with the proper off-set. If you are determined to use rear spacers, be sure they are hubcentric. It wouldn't hurt to consider fender flares too, the amount of debris you will fling against your truck sides will be enormous if those pictures are correct looking. You always have the potential of the added stress to bearings and ball joints with spacers, extending your wheels out farther than they were designed for. Also use blue lock tite on the inner nuts that hold the spacers on, they are actually only supposed to be temporary usually, till proper wheels are obtained. Measure the length of the studs, this will give you a good indication of spacer width that is required to keep stud from protruding farther than the spacer.

I ran spacers on my 4th gen for 3 years without issues. Spend the money get quality spacers. I had them and was nervous about them but I can truly say that I had 0 issues.

I went with 11mm Hubcentric spacers.

Only part that sucks about a negative offset is all the dirt and rocks will be thrown down the side of your truck. If that doesnt bother you go for it. If it does keep the spacer with a mild offset. I also have a 5th gen and I believe -10 is really close to flush with the OEM flares.

Not sure exactly what size you need but I'd go with the Bora Hubcentric spacers by Motorsportech. They are the best with a price to match but not something you want to take chances with. I'm in my 5th season of running mine on the winter setup with no issues whatsoever.

Thanks your truck looks great !

I need spacers for the rear because the spindle lift kicks out the fronts an extra inch to 1-1/2" than the rear. It looks funny the front is about 3" out and the rear is out half that

I'll check out Bora now

Thanks guys !

You will need longer studs. I got longer studs for my 1/2" spacers, although I probably could have gotten away without them. By the way we had a very hard time finding replacement studs. Finally used the specs to cross with some sort of Mustang. ARP - cost around $200 for a set IIRC.

Agree with above that you definitely want hub-centric, and get the most expensive ones you can if you're going 1-1/2". You want them to be made of the highest quality material and machined perfectly.

Was it $200 with the studs and spacers? The Bora 1-1/2" spacers are $69 a pc
I need 2

Thanks for the heads up on the studs

I'm going to remove a wheel and measure the studs so I have an idea

I always cringe at the tires hanging outside the fenders. Rock chips galore.......plus it seems to be a kid thing and looks odd to me. If you cant sling enough mud with the tires covered, you really ain’t muddin!

It was $200 for the studs (4 wheels). I think my spacers were about what you say - $250 or so for a set of 4.

You may not need longer studs for 1-1/2 spacers, depending how they're made. The 1/2" ones for my truck were essentially thick washers. I got 2" spacers for my tractor, and they bolted on to the hub separately, and then the wheels bolted to studs in the spacer.

I spoke with Motorsportech
Yesterday and they said because my rims are dual drilled, they I would have to take off the starter part of each stud which is about 1/16th off each stud, so that the wheel sits flush on the hub
He said to grind all of them, install the wheel and torque to 145-155lbs and remove the wheel to see if the studs leave marks , if they don't the wheel is sitting flush and I'm.good to go.
If the wheel wasn't dual drilled I wouldn't have has to do anything I believe he said because they have a pocket at the bottom of the lug nut where it seats, where dual drilled wheels do not

But it looks good !
It looks great. I have a -44 offset on my rims alone. They stick out a couple inches from my wheel wells. I love the look. Every wheel will spit rocks and crap up. It's all the look. Just had my truck polished and looks fresh off the lot after 3 years with the offset Rims. I'm actually thinking about some 2" spacers so they stick out further haha

You may be Ok. But I was running larger tires (heavier, and more leverage) and didn't want to take a chance. I felt like $200 was well spent insurance and peace of mind.

1/2" is the widest you can go on stock studs. Even then some recommend the longer studs. I check my lugs regularly just to make sure none of them are backing out. So far so good. I'm running 33" tires. Probably a good idea to get the longer studs with bigger tires.

I run 1/2 spacers on the back only, lowering with drop spindles poke your front wheels out just a little so you have to compensate for it.
Mine are just the cheap ones you get at AZ, not concentric, but have been running them for about 5-7 years without any issues?
NOTE: You do have to have more than enough threads sticking to bolt to and torque down or they're not safe.
