Sounds like a short of some kind causing an internal sensor(s) to fail.

Take it to a better dealer would be my best suggestion. It could be as simple as a loose harness or could be as ugly as a bad wire inside a loom.

Try a new battery in the FOB. I had a FOB battery go dead in 2 weeks after buying a new F-150. Hopefully it's a simply cure like that.

Me too. The FOB battery I used lasted one day.

Yeah, there's no to know how long those batteries sit on the self before the manufacturers use them. When I took my F-150 back, the Service Manager (who I've know forever) just smiles, and said let me get you a new battery. Done, and done........

Like others suggested check the battery, these batteries are difficult to test and if you replace the battery, use a brand name like Energizer or Duracell, this comes from experience. These later FOBs have a small red LED that illuminates when a FOB button is pushed, are you seeing the red LED illuminate? Another good test is to try the second FOB and see if you get the same behavior. Try placing the FOB you are having issues with within the vehicle somewhere outside your pocket and see if the issue repeats.

I had a similar issue and discovered the FOB in my pocket was covered by my cell phone in the cargo pocket of my shorts. There is a discussion about FOBs and cell phones in the owners' manual.

There is a known issue with key fobs and aftermarket LED's on 1500's. People upgrade some or all of their bulbs to LED and then start experiencing issues with their fobs. This has also happened with garage door openers with LED lights. I don't know if this is also an issue on HD's, but I thought I'd mention it.
