Mine is doing the same thing. ****** me off to pay this much for a vehicle and it doesn't work as advertised and can't be fixed. I've never had that with another vehicle.

It’s a thing. Comes and goes. No explanation, all over the forum without a solution.

I typically keep the button depressed longer than usual, and it eventually works.

I also keep a backup from the garage manufacturer in the vehicle as a just-in-case.

That thing got a Hemi... yup.
I'm going to join the "works every time" crowd.

But boy did I struggle getting the damn thing to link. I followed the manual exactly - Dash display says it programmed the button. Hit the "learn" on the garage door head - wouldn't take. It turns out, on GENIE rolling code garage door openers, you can only use one "code". My remote has 3 buttons. I programmed my Homelink with the button that correctly opens the door to no avail. So I programmed one of the buttons on the remote that hadn't been used yet (green light in GENIE remote - red light is programmed already)and BOOM, worked within 10 seconds.

I read the forums, i tried linking in DRIVE, I tried unplugging the powerhead, I tried everything under the sun with zero success. Using a different code/frequency worked immediately.

My 2018 started doing the same thing. Leaving the garage, the opener won't shut the door, from 15' away. Also no "Channel transmitting" message on the EVIC. Returning home, works everytime(so far) & the "Channel transmitting" appears on the EVIC, which makes sense, I suppose. NO Led bulbs in the truck. 4000 miles left on my 3/36. will go in before that's over at least to document it.

I've seen and responded to a couple of posts about flaky issues with park sensors and cruise control on/off, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced issues with their homelink buttons just quitting? I've had several occasions where mine just doesn't work, then it does again without reprogramming it. Most of the time, when this has happened, I get in the truck in the garage and use the homelink button to open the door. Then, when I back out and go to use the button to close the door, it just doesn't seem to even transmit. I have to put the truck in park, turn it off, open the door to kill the key off power, then start it back up and press the button again.

Yes, I just took my truck in yesterday for this and another issue: my radio blasted on full when I started the truck and there was only on full blast or nothing. ANYWAYS was told this is a known issue and the radio blasting AND Homelink randomly not working is connected to a software issue. Tell your dealer as I did: They put me on the list as it is a known issue and when a software fix is ready you will be contacted.

I was also told that if there are LED light bulbs in the opener that they could possibly cause interference with setting up the Homelink in the vehicle....which is odd, because the manufacturer remote works fine with the LED bulbs in the opener. (Chamberlain garage door opener).

I had to swap out my LED bulbs to incandescent bulb to program my Ram but it works... most of the time. What I find is that maybe once in 12 to 15 times I go to open/close the garage door with the Homelink button it won't function. BUT if I leave the truck sit a while or the next day it will work fine again... for a while.

2014 Ram - has been programmed since I got it. Today for the first time it didn’t work to close the garage door. Noticed that there was no “transmit” message when I pushed the button. Tried power cycling the engine to no avail. Got out and closed the door with my keypad. Came home an hour later and everything worked as before. I HATE intermittent problems.

How is it that this Homelink problem has been going on for at least 10 years and there is no fix? No, it's not 'LED' bulbs, no, it's not a broken button, it works, then it doesn't, then it works again. And, the answer apparently is 'just wait, it will work again, eventually'. It's garbage. The remote that came with the opener unit works for decades. My truck, only periodically. FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

Anyone have an update for this? I’m facing the same issue with my 2016 1500. Worked at old house with 17ys old rolling code opener and this new opener seems to not like the truck or I’m the homelink has crapped out. Works about 25% of the time now.

Same issue with my 18 2500. Fortunately, I can open the garage doors with an app on my phone also, so I use that whenever the Ram opener fails (which is fairly often).

So, I linked a wireless controller for my air horn to my homelike button. It's setup as a momentary switch, so press the homelink button and the horn will blast for a second or 2. However. It doesn't work with every single press of the button, basically it'll work once every 4 or 5 presses (screen says transmitting every time). It's programmed to button 1, would programming to 2 or 3 maybe be more consistent?

You might try going to a hardware store & picking up a piece of antenna wire, maybe about 4 to 6" longer than your current door opener antenna
Don't make it too long, because there are people out there that use electronic gadgets to pick up other peoples device signal
LED lights that are turned on in or outside your garage can disrupt the transmission
Other signal disrupters are fancy birdbaths, CNC Machines
etc.

Good Luck :)

Doubtful. I programmed 1 and 3 for the same garage door. If 1 didn't work, neither did 3. If 1 worked, so did 3. There is something messed up there for sure. Our other 2 vehicles never have this issue (Toyota, Pacifica).

There are no LED lights on in our garages when this happens. And it's intermittent. This is not an issue with the opener end of things, this is a Ram problem with rolling code garage door openers. The doors never, ever fail to open with the buttons in our Toyota.

If I parked my truck in one of our garages with those openers, I'd be very frustrated with it, no question. But the Ram lives in the RV building with a manual overhead door. I did park in the downstairs attached garage for a few weeks a while back. I just put one of the remotes that came with the opener in the truck. Much more reliable.

I was messing with the switches earlier today and it worked every time. Not sure why it all of a sudden worked, but it did.

I HAVE never used the buttons that on a MY 19 DT truck, are kinda stuck in the Driver's Visor, have no clue if they even work. All my garage doors are manual anyway and I park in front of house, not in Garage. Kinda hard with a trailer in one slot and hay in another, lmao.

During the day everything works fine, but once the street lights and everyone's LEDs around start lighting up the homelink button stops working unless I am right in front of the garage ..

LEDs interfere with the signal simple as that, if you have LEDs of any kind on your truck it will interfere with the signal, it's proven and even the garage door repair guy that just came to replace the torsion spring asked if I was having problems with my garage openers because he noticed all the LEDs down the street and on my actual garage opener.

Why do you guys ask questions and when answers are given you guys still don't believe, take into consideration or say "nope that's not it" ... LEDs are cheaply made especially the ones the city puts on our streets, those are the main culprits and for some reason on these RAMs the interference affects it even more ...

Not the issue in my case. This happens day or night in my Ram. And I live in the country on an acreage. Only 3 houses on the entire street. No LED overhead lights anywhere nearby. The only LED's in my truck were put in there by Ram. I have not added any.

Yeah, mine is intermittent too. Works one time, not the next. No rhyme or reason to it.
