I just turned 25k on my 2019. Not high mileage, but so far has been a good trouble free truck. There are days I miss my cummins, but overall I love this truck!!

I have 160500 miles on my 2015 6.4 hemi 2500. Runs strong and wouldn’t hesitate to hook up a heavy trailer and go across country with it.

So glad I went with a gasser. In these times, lack of diesel parts, possible diesel & DEF shortages, and the price of diesel, make the Cummings seem very unattractive. I can always upgrade later.

I also like hearing the long running nature of 6.4 Hemi. I cannot wait to get my one-ton gasser SRW.

I almost bought a gas 2500 laramie yesterday. dealer surprised me with over 2000$ of dealer add-ons at the last minute and requirement to use their financing so I bailed as I didnt want the stuff they added and I always get better finacing using my credit union or usaa. so am still on the hunt. some dealers here in the metro area are starting to have incentives so that is a good sign

81k on my 2014. Engine is strong. Wish I had the 8 spd but have not had any issues with the 6 spd some have had but many have not. Have had a few hiccups; clutch fan under warranty and the one that's on there now acts up now and then. Out of warranty, out of pocket; rear u joint, cracked radiator and failed thermostat, rear view camera and an electric window motor. About $1500 out of pocket so far in the 8 years. Lots of dirt roads in my area the truck has seen. Local shops haven't seen the engine or transmission problems spewed on the YouTube and forums.
Should sell it now since prices are so hi, but keep hoping RAM updates the HD cab before doing that. Interested in the Ford 7.3L as it has that 10 spd, more torque, and has a bigger cab, but it doesn't do any better mpg unloaded than what I have now nor the GM 6.6L as it's backed by a 6 spd too. See just as many new gas HD owners as I do diesel now in my area. Haven't had to make a payment on it in the last 4.5 years so I think I'll just keep on putting miles on it.

My 2021 1 ton has the 8 speed. Just went over 9000 miles. My 2017 3/4 ton had the 6 speed. Difference between day and night. You won’t go wrong staying with Ram and the 8 speed. Pulls my 5th wheel so much better than my older 6 speed.

Hey Bearcatrp thanks for that first hand experience. I have drove a 2020 6.4 with the 8 spd. Dropped by our local small town dealer when they were slow one day and took it up some nice 1/3mile long 6% grades just outside of Town. That truck with 3.73's was a totally different experience in the first 3 gears than what my 4.10 equipped truck does on those grades from a stop. Truck pulled its weight easily and much faster. I live at 7200 feet. That is really my only gripe with the 6 spd is the low speed performance 0-45, but once up there I can manage the truck alright with gears 3-6 and even drop it into 2nd sometimes when loaded. There's been really only 1 time when I felt the truck fell on its face at hwy speeds and that was when I pulled our 6000# camper around the mountain and went up and over and back Togwotee Pass just south of Yellowstone. Though speed limit was only 55, those sudden sharp grades & pulls out of those mountain creek transitions at over 8000 feet had the 6.4 soaked trying to find its breath, 2nd gear was top gear at it fought hard to stay above 45 mph, it had too, cause 1st gear I'd be down at 32 mph and I wasn't going to let that happen. That was an area I really could have used more gearing....or a CTD...lol.

FYI, I wouldn't be afraid of their financing. When I bought my 2500 in May I did their 4.88% to get the $500 discount on the truck then re-financed through USAA for 2.79% before I even made the first payment. Also see if you qualify for the veterans discount..another $500...every little bit helps.

That said, surprises at signing are an indicator of a shady dealership
