I have a exhaust manifold leak on my 2017 Ram 1500, mostly on the passenger side. I’ve read that headers would fix that and would like to get them done but I don’t know anybody that would install them and be able to take any broken bolts out. Does anybody know a place near Ft. Myers Florida that would do that?

There's no decent automotive repair shops in your area? This is a pretty basic repair for a shop, although it won't be cheap. They'll likely have to retrieve broken manifold bolts by welding nuts to them. I'd take a belt sander to the OEM manifolds before I put junk aftermarket headers on a stock 2017 Ram 1500.

Go onto either High Performance Rams or Tuned Rams on facebook, somebody will probably direct you to a decent shop in your area.

Gearhead Fabrications is in Stuart FL, they do all sorts of work on MOPAR stuff.....they're more of a specialty shop, but may be a decent chance they can help you out and recommend a good brand for you.

Can anyone explain why this hasn't been A) fixed by Ram or B) part of a recall or extended warranty. I've replaced a manifold on one side 2 times and 1 time on the other before the 100, 000kms, and now its ticking time again at 120,000 kms. I love these trucks but this is a serious flaw that should have been remedied a long time ago.

Probably because it would take a redesign of the head to use larger bolts and why do that on a dead engine line.
The bolts tend to rust in salt belts and get weaker, as well as more drastic cold/hot cycles.

Replacing a manifold will result in the new manifold warping, truing the gasket surface of an already heat cycled manifold will hold it's shape much longer.

Have had my '16 RAM w/ 5.7 Hemi in exhaust shop 6 times - no, I'm not kidding. They replaced all bolts on right side & gasket the 1st time. Within a month, was leaking again. 2nd time, replaced all bolts again, gasket, lasted about 3 weeks. 3rd time, replaced manifold & gaskets, replaced all bolts again, lasted another 3 weeks. 4th time replaced all bolts again, another new manifold & gaskets, lasted 2 1/2 weeks. 5th time, replaced manifold & gaskets, bolts again, lasted 3 1/2 weeks. 6th time, replaced manifold, gaskets & helicoiled all bolt holes, has lasted 2 weeks. This morning cranked up & it's popping again.....always on the right side, so it'll have to go back to shop again.

I'm thankful for my repair shop, I have only paid for 1 manifold & paid for labor 1 time. Shop owner has been warrantying everything, he is now at a loss as to what to do, says he has never had one that keeps doing this. We are both trying to figure out what to do next. Anyone have any suggestions.....please?

Not sure why it is happening so quickly unless they are not torquing the manifold bolts correctly during install.

I would opt to go with headers anyway. They 3/8" steel flange on quality headers wont warp like the stock manifolds do. Let me know if you would like a quote on anything. Just send me a message

One word Love it or leave it, there is enough information here to do the job right the first time, yes, it's a flaw but if you do it right the first time it won't warp again!!!

Question about this. When you say do it right the first time, are you suggesting there's a way to replace with OEM manifold and have it not crack or bolts crack again, or are you saying the right way to do right the first time is to go with a quality aftermarket set of headers that won't crack? I'm in this same boat as well with my 2020 Rebel. Manifold cracked at 28k, fixed under warranty with new manifold, and now it's cracked again at 52k miles. Not under warranty anymore, but I could take a crack at seeing if they'd do it.... but I'm worried I'll just end up with a crack again and will be back at square one considering just doing quality aftermarket headers.

Thanks

replacing the manifolds with a new set of oem manifolds will warp no matter what. If they are torqued correctly they will last a little while. If not torqued correctly they will warp even faster. I believe that what was meant about the done correctly comment.

Quality aftermarket headers will not warp and crack. For shorties AFE is a great option and for long tubes ARH and SW are the best options. Message me if you would like a quote or more info.

Thanks a lot for the help. I'm looking at the AFEs and the JBAs. Do you have any input on that comparison?

AFE is better quality. JBA seems to be hit or miss with quality. I recommend the AFE over JBA. When it comes to shorties AFE is our go to brand.

BD Performance also has replacement exhaust manifolds which might be another option.

The BD manifold is a good option vs the stock manifolds as they will not warp. They are cheaper than shorty headers but also offer no performance gains over stock.

For any interested in these or headers please feel free to message me for info and a quote.

Are the BD manifolds any easier to install compared to shorty headers?
