Gull wing vs. single lid toolbox.

I have an offer to buy a UWS gull wing style toolbox for $100, but not sure if I like the look of it.

What are the pros and cons of a gull wing instead of single lid or vise versa?

Pros -
Easy access from both sides
Don't have to open entire box
Cons -
Items in the middle of the box not as accessible

Yep, exactly that. I've had both, the "items in the middle" thing was annoying. Once I had to get up in the bed, the benefit of the gull wing became less significant.

I liked having a Hi-Lift jack with me. I did not want it visible from the outside. So it went in the lockable tool box. A gull wing style would not have worked as I needed full width access to put the "jack in the box".

I guess my biggest hangup is how it will look on my truck. The biggest item I moght put in it is a 3 ton hydrolic jack, but even then I can unlatch the handle and it will fit just fine...

Years ago I had a single lid toolbox on my 2001 Dakota and really liked it's convince of access for longer items. Only problem was I had to add a spacer to the hinge side to keep the top from hitting the cab when open
