Can anyone confirm if this radio is correct for the upgrade?

68331634AM

Included is the link. I'm trying to figure out why this one is cheaper than any of the other indicated radios that's been listed in the forums previously. When I did a search for this specific radio, the forum indicated no search results were found, so my apologies if I'm missing this question somewhere in the 350 pages.

Thank you!

It's likely for a different country vs USA or Canada. I don't recognize it either.

Reach out to RamForum vendor @AllMoparParts.com (Benny) and he can verify PNs for you and may have additional discounts for Forum members.

68331634AM comes up as a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 8.4" screen. It doesn't say if its a NAV or non-NAV screen though, see here:

Scroll down past the sketch of the RA2 and RA4 radios, in the list of item(s) marked 2 you'll see the part number.

On the 2021 DS radios they count up from 68461699AC to 68461704AC in the order UAQ, UCQ, UDQ, UJQ, UAS, UCS. I know the NAV screen here is the UJQ which is 68461702AC. Not sure if the numbers as shown on the following link (68331631 to 68331635) count up in the same order.

Thank you gentleman, I appreciate it. I'll reach out to Benny for clarification. My initial assumption being that it was between 3-500.00 cheaper than other units is that there is something different but unaware of exactly what that would have been. Greatly appreciate the information.

One thing to be careful of. In the 5th Gen trucks the 8.4 radios are separate modules from the screens. That could account for the difference in price (two separate parts to make a whole).

Did not think of that. I would've assumed the price would have been around 500-700 for just the screen but given the changes in prices due to supply/demand and the lamination issue many had complained of via Facebook groups, that would make sense if it's just a portion of the module and not the entirety of it completely.

I'll most likely just order this one:

My assumption is that the definition of "AM" replacing "AL" is simply just an upgrade of some factor, whether it's a de-lamination fix, software update, etc.,?

I come from a vast array of Ford vehicles over the last several years and so I'm not fully aware of the revision history for Ram vehicles. Ram is my first personal purchase of a truck, but given the bang for the buck, it was a no brainer for me. However, I had not been aware that they didn't incorporate the CP/AA until the 2018 model year. Had I known that I would've purchased in that frame, but hindsight is always 20/20 and I don't mind doing upgrades myself for whatever needs done.

Thank you for the assistance. Greatly appreciated.

You are correct, AL is just an earlier revision of the AM part.

That link in post 3501 for 68331634AM says it has NAV. I just searched 68461702AC on the same site, which is the UJQ "rest of the world" (South America, Australia etc) NAV for 2021 and guess what? It says it supersedes 68331634Ax - it is for 4th Jan 2020 onwards whereas 68331634Ax is for up to 3rd Jan 2020. So it must be a UJQ.

At least I know where to get one if mine plays up.

So the NAV is for everything OUS. My question now becomes if you were to utilize that radio but without navigation, would car play work and link up appropriately with everything else for a truck that is UAQ?

None of the radio stations would work as far as I am aware. Plus we don't have satellite or digital radio here so it probably won't have connections for them. If you aren't going to use NAV don't buy a UAQ, buy the UAS version which I think is this one:

You can see it supersedes 68331635AM which was the pre 2020 version.

I've been following and reading through this thread, but not sure if I have a clear answer... I have a 2015 VP4 with Customtronix harness and software jailbreak. Considering upgrading to 2018 4C (non-Nav) radio for CarPlay. I'm assuming there are no Customtronix solutions for the new setup? I have reverse camera in review mirror and saw this comment on Customtronix enzo description: "RAM vehicles that display the reverse camera in the rear view mirror are NOT compatible with the Jailbreaker Enzo line of products!!". Wanted I also added a front camera to my vehicle with the Customtronix harness so I assume I'd lose that if I upgrade to 2018 radio?

It can be done. Just need to get some details of what your working with/started with, etc. Send me a message with your contact info/phone and I will give you a call. (I had almost the same setup on my 13 ram with RA4 conversion & RAx Jailbreak before going with the UAQ)

I may be missing this answer but I want to verify something before I waste money on parts. I have a 2018 2500 Tradesman. I want to upgrade to the 8.4 with carplay, but I want to stay with my knobs for the AC. If I order the 8.4 bezel adapter that infotainment makes can I just order a new 8.4 uaq radio and swap it in without any other parts or does using the manual knob style AC cause problems with the new uaq radios? I assume my media hub will be fine.
I know it's been awhile but I just found these pictures I took of the 8.4 in a RA2 bezel. The added bonus of this setup is it gives your passengers less options for messing with the radio ;)

Important to note...

If you don't have at least steering wheel audio controls, this won't give you any sound/audio. ... and the radio won't fully integrate with the HVAC system without the correct 8.4 conversion harness setup & Bezel.

This is an excellent point. I only show the RA2 bezel as a stepping stone to avoid infotainment's inferior (IMO) bezel products when completing this mod.

Been over 200 pages since I last posted about this and my media hub's just been hanging out on the center console all these years.

Anyone ever make a filler panel for 'em?
Might of helped if you read some of those pages

Question for those that have upgraded from VP3/VP4 Harman radios to the 4C/4C-Nav and utilize Customtronix products. I currently have 2015 with VP4 where reverse camera is in rearview mirror. I currently have Customtronix harness with software jailbreak. I'm getting ready to upgrade to 4C radio. If I do the reverse camera reroute to radio and purchase / install Customtronix ENZO, will it work with reverse camera and give me additional video inputs as well?

Customtronix is saying ENZO doesn't support the camera reroute, but I'm getting mixed information.

From Customtronix: "Rerouting will be a problem! sine Enzo doesn´t support that:-("

Made the plunge of installing the Radio and Media hub and harness I purchased a few months ago. So far after the install I got no audio from any speaker, No option for Heated or Cooled passenger seat and no way to look at my backup or cargo camera. No Suspension Settings option within setting of Radio(I have the factory Air Ride). Any ideas?

Truck was a 2017 2500 Laramie with the 8.4 NAV radio.

Radio I purchased was a 68461699AC
Media Hub I purchased was 68397098AE
UAQ/UAS Harness I purchased from KAODtech.com

Any thoughts? I have key cycled half a dozen times. Am I missing something?
