I have been dealing with a P1DBD code for the better part of a year. I have replaced both the fuel pump and the fuel rail sensor to no avail.
Upon start up, my 5.7 hemi doesn't want to turn over on the first try about half the time. Usually it will turn over on the second try, but not every time. Obviously this is a bit frustrating but also embarrassing when I have to crank it twice to get the truck to start.
I don' think that they are related, however I also have a leaking exhaust manifold that I plan to fix next week. Any ideas as to what the next step would be to diagnose said issue?

Did you already check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge ? It almost sounds like the pump isn't priming correctly or the pressure bleeds off way to fast.

Edit: If you have a clever enough scan tool you can also look at what the fuel pressure sensor reads when priming and how fast the pressure drops. However given that the code is related to the sensor that might not yield good data.

Not sure what our Rams have but there should be a check valve type drainback prevention so the rail keeps pressure when off. Sounds like that's not working right.

Thanks for the input.
I will check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge and see if it drops upon priming. Drainback check valve sounds promising also. Will report back.

I had that issue on my former DD, 2000 Grand Cherokee. Same symptom. The check valve on that was part of the fuel pump. They had a cheap repair. A new O ring. Kit was 13 bucks and had the o ring and some plastic sticks that release the clips to get the top of the pump off to access it. Of course it involved dropping the tank but it fixed the problem.
