Well after discussions with DW we decided not to wait and get our 2500 so we can enjoy longer trips with our RV. My 1500 Express handled the trailer but we always had to leave stuff behind due to the payload capacity. With the new truck we have over 1500LB more payload with better gearing and over all better truck to do the tasks we want to do with it. We picked up a 2022 RAM 2500 LARAMIE SPORT CREW CAB 4X4. We did not need such a loaded truck but after looking at 4+ year old trucks approaching the cost we got this 1 for it was a no brainer.

I am adding some pics of my new ride. It replaced my 2018 Ram 1500 Express Hemi Quad cab

Congratulations! What a gem. I almost got that blue...I think? What is that paint code, sir?

How big is your bed? What gearing? Large gas tank? Any impressions yet?

So far its really nice, at first a little intimidating over the 1500 but after a few miles, that went away. The ride is really nice and better then my 4th gen 1500, I dont know what the 5th gen 1500 ride like. The 1500 seemed to accelerate faster and that had the 3.21 rear but it does only have 52 miles on it so I am not really hammering it yet. I need to get the 500 miles on first before I can tow (its main purpose) so I know more after my first trip. The interior is night and day difference over my 1500. I can say holy crap this truck has way more storage areas then I could ever fill up.

Good looking truck Joe, and I do like that Patriot Blue. Enjoy, that truck probably won't even know there is a trailer behind it......:)

Nice, real nice. If I was towing a lot, I would trade up my 1500, but alas, just me, and I only tow a few times a year to get hay.

Welcome to the Heavy Duty club. You'll love that truck. I did the same thing you did - upgraded. Exactly the right decision. I don't tow as much as I used to, but it's paid for and I still like it so I keep it.

I like the blue color better than the white the dealer had in inventory.

I had 32K on my 1500 and had over 4000 miles of towing, that almost 15% of the usage on the truck was towing. My wife and I do about 9 camping trips per year ranging from 30-200 miles away, so we figure we would just kill the poor 1500 trying to continue that usage or take it across country.

I could never buy a white truck, I use to work for a environmental company and all the EPA trucks we were assigned were White with tan interiors. Too many bad memories of superfund sites for me to ever own a white truck.

I hear ya. There's a reason white is the most popular truck color - all the fleets by them to put their company logos on. The dealer made me an offer that I could not refuse, though, so I convinced myself I didn't have to look at the exterior when I'm inside. Except for some of the hood.

I too traded my 2021 1500 Bighorn for a 2500. I had a 21 ft grand design that weighed 7500 and we took that bad boy from Florida to Yellowstone and into Oregon 12,000 miles. Loved it so much we traded trailer for 32ft Grand Design 5th wheel. Has the hitch transferred after realizing the 1500 (even with new air bag suspension in rear end I damned close to maxing out all aspects of the trucks capabilities. So traded for Tradesman 2500 diesel, the bought bed cover and side rails from Amazon. Truck looks great and is a beast! We’re currently outside Boston in RV park, and towed it up some serious Christian mountains in Va! That engine lol at those mountains! My new trailer is 12000 lbs + contents and I’m averaging 11.5 mpg and fuel is avg 5.50 a gallon. Heading to Bangor tomorrow! This combo of Ram 2500 and Grand Design is a great choice! Woulda loved a Laramie but the 60k I spent was high enough! Been seeing people who’ve spent 2x what we did and I’d take ours and never look back! Best of luck with that Blue beauty!

Two seasons ago we moved up to the 2500 and 6.4L for towing the travel trailer. Had a older F250 diesel, and an F150 before that. The 2500/6.4l pulls the trailer easier and with more power that both previous horses... I will hang on the this truck, until the new V6 twin turbo comes out.. then we'll see. Until then, this is the best combo I have ever had.
