Lol , I often wonder if some folk even test drive the vehicle they purchase, especially when the knob shifter came out.

I still think bumper side step that Chevy came out with is ingenious and wish Ram would do the same. Keep waiting for someone to hit my rear bumper so I can do after market and get the side step. Lol

Al’s, wish I could have a 6 or 7 speed manual shift.
Yeah, that embedded step on the Chevy bumpers is pretty neat but then again, at least from what I’ve seen, there’s no other option to not have that so if you want it, that’s great for you but if you’re somebody who doesn’t want it or would rather have the hideaway step then you’re screwed because there’s no other option to get a rear bumper on those that doesn’t have that step.

I don’t know if dealers will do this for him. I believe he’ll have to get his own programmer.
Yeah, I don’t know either because I’ve never been faced with this problem but you’re probably right, the dealer probably won’t change this just because of the fact that the truck came stock with 10 ply tires and just like with the ram rebel, it’s recommended tire pressure is a lot higher than the other halftons so the TPMS had to be programmed accordingly as well.

Your only option at that point would be to get some kind of a tuner that will let you change that but see, that’s just it, if you’re buying a three-quarter ton, most people buy those to haul heavy trailers and heavy loads and don’t really care about the fact that their truck rides like a tank because they know what they bought and they bought what they bought for a reason and in my opinion, it’s kind of silly to take a three-quarter ton truck and run the tires at a lot lower tire pressure than what it was designed for because of what it was designed to do. It’s like in a lot of ways you really can’t get upset at the tire pressure monitoring system being set the way it is for that type of truck.

It’s always a trade off. For me no other truck rides as well as the ram. So I’ll do without some things I would like to have.

But hey, look at the bright side; your rear bumper may not have those cut outs on the ends but at least you can get you one of those steps that tucks up underneath the bumper and comes out when you need it so it’s not like you have to totally go without having a step.

after 4.5yr i found something mechanical i dont like about my 17 pw. on the 66rfe where the dipstick tube goes into the trans housing theres a single lip seal. i much rather would have seen a oring here . that seal looks to be a pita to remove and not much easier to put back in. if any 66rfe engineer reads this i hope he realizes his rookie mistake

appears someone from ram seen my post and realized their mistake by redesigning the seal. easier to install and remove. not to mention just seal better. the previous design was stupid idea you would expect to see on some kind of ford. when the weather warms ill put it in

#1 pet peeve - you can't turn the radio off! Mute is not sticky and the radio turns on when you start the truck

#2 pet peeve - no option for a telescoping steering wheel. This sucks for tall guys.
Are there any answers to #1?

I hate the Uconnect with a passion. No OFF button for the radio is a "**** me off big time" deal. Stupid to have to hit mute every single time I start the engine and the stereo works it's damnedest to find something to play after about a minute into your driving. Rather annoying when someone gets in your ride and all the sudden out of the blue some stupid song just starts blaring out.
Also, no true mute button for using bluetooth audio or audio from usb. It's a PAUSE not MUTE used for everything except Sirius and Am/Fm. Another "**** me off"

Didn't like the tailgate not having assist. Does now though so mute point....

Not a fan of the plastic cover over the bed railings

I don't understand why there isn't a lock on one of the glove boxes.

Took some time to get use to the uber thick steering wheel....

Other than that....
I love the Longhorn edition interior. Love all the storage. Love the fold out floor in the rear. Love the power and the ride is nice and comfortable.....
Why is there no off button? Has anyone found a solution to this? Is there a alfaOBD solution? It drives me crazy too!

Most of the radios, especially the 5" screens did not have the option to turn off the radio. They added this in 20 or 21.
There isn't even a alfaOBD solution? I have fixed TPMS and added tow mirrors with courtesy lights and blinkers but I can't keep the radio from coming on when starting? CRAZY!

Nope no solution, I have the 8.4 and you can't turn these off either lol .. some B$ if you ask me ....
Rather than "turning it off" when you shut down, just get in the habit of lowering the volume to 0. Same overall result. I agree. I would like to turn it off, but the lack of this feature is not keeping me up at night.

Radio off complaint has been around since the mid model refresh in 2014. Just the way it is.

In mine (8.4), I can just switch to Media player. That option is "sticky" - meaning it wll still be selected when you turn the truck off and then back on. But not sure if this thread is the 4th or 5th gen thread... Can't remember if that also worked on my 4g.

Another option, not 100%, is to set the volume to 1.

I don't have my Ram yet, but that drove me crazy in my '19 Wrangler. Like testpilot above my simple mind figured it out though. Mine has two USB ports, and I just set the radio on the unused port. Since there no usb drive stuck in there, there's no noise coming from the radio if I use the screen for other stuff.

Probably that way because the climate, phone, default settings and other apps need to be running.
