Hello, seeing if anyone is having any issues with Android Auto/ Apple Car play features, or maybe knows a workaround. I bought my truck (2022 1500 Limited) about two weeks ago. I paired my Android device on delivery and it worked perfect until this morning.

I jumped in and noticed that Android Auto did not auto-connect as it usually does. I have restarted my phone, the truck, un-pair and pair device again, and it just keeps trying to connect to Android Auto endlessly and will not come out of that loop until the truck is turned off. It detects my phones (calls, messages , music etc) but it does not recognize Android Auto. I have tried on two Android devices and got the same thing.

I paired an Apple phone and Apple Car play worked on the initial setup, now it won't connect at all on the Apple device either.

Not sure what is going on, and dealership wont have an available appointment for another 2 weeks to check the issue out.

Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: It looks like it was a glitch in the UConnect system. I did a factory reset, Settings > Reset > Factory Reset.

I had to re-configure everything and lost access to the cameras for about 10 minutes, but everything seems to be back up and running as normal. Lets see how long this lasts.

Is there USB connect in your center console ? That might be the work around until you can see the dealer.

There is also a U CONNECT website for updates have you tried that ?

Bet you have the 12" screen, LOL. As said above, get a USB cable, and connect to one of the front USB ports by/under the radio. See if it will be connected that way and thru Android Auto/Carplay. I have a lowly Bighorn, so I do not have BT option, only USB connect. If U can find out how to do a soft reboot on the 12" system, that may help also.

ADDED: Since I have a MY 19 with 8.4 and straight U connect 4 Radio, my options are not the same as your high end system. You should also be able to get recognized plugging in front USB cable with BT off, I can on mine, I just do not have the higher end system to have an idea there. ALL above IMHO.

SOMEBODY that has the newer 12" radio system needs to chime in if they know how to do a soft reboot.

CAVEAT: Since 2022, you should have Uconnect 5, and there are reported issues, so in the end sounds like a trip to Dealer, if you are lucky they may be able to help.

22 1500 Limited here. I just had this happen to me with CarPlay yesterday also for the first time. (1300 miles).

I ended up hard rebooting the phone. Recommended fine after that.

Just tried connecting the device via USB, my phone says Android Auto is connected, the car is still "searching" for Android auto. Also Uconnect says im up to date per my VIN.

I rebooted my phone and re-installed the Android Auto app and no luck. All signs seem to point to faulty Uconnect system. I guess I am waiting those 2 weeks for a service appointment. This should be fun.

I see your update. Was about to suggest the factory reset. Crossing the fingers!

Mine just did the same thing with apple. I did a hard reboot on the radio and it allowed me to connect again and the device manager came up first and allowed me to connect to carplay where it wouldn't before

Same here! Have had my truck almost a month and all of a sudden everything is haywire. I had been mostly using it plugging my Android phone (Samsung Z flip3) into the traditional USB port. Then, I stopped doing that, and it seemed as though Android Auto was still working via BT, which I thought was cool, because in my last car, my Apple Carplay would only work through the USB port. Well, recently I decided to use the USB C port to connect my android phone. Now, it could be a coincidence with some over the air update or something, but my radio has gone nuts. It seems completely random whether I can get my phone to connect or not, and when I do, after a while I will get dropouts while streaming from my phone to the truck radio. When I started digging around, it seems like the only way the phone will connect to the radio as Android Auto is over WIFI! I don't want that! What a mess. I'm going to reset my radio and try going through the traditional USB port again. If that goes back to working well, I guess Ill stick with plugging it in. I also seem to have dropouts from the phone to the radio when connected wirelessly AND sitting on the built in wireless charger. I guess another reason to stick with old school USB connection.

This seems to be the normal. My system had issues until I reset it. My Android Auto and phone worked fine but XM, fuel pricing, and traffic didn't until I did the reset. Ever since then, it all works and connects to my phone and Android Auto is fast, very fast.

So far, I'm finding the 12" screen with Uconnect 5 impressive. No issues (after the reset) and very responsive. I hope they don't screw this up but knowing them since my 2013 RAM, they will.

Similar issues. Android Auto on Pixel 6 Pro, work fine and then restarts, then out of nowhere it stops working. Also, my blue-tooth giving issues connecting and reconnecting. Not all my contacts display on screen, No recent call list showing or favorites and when I add then they disappear as soon as I turn the truck back off and then back on. I tried soft reset of the radio as well as numerous times deleted blue-tooth and reset on both the truck and phone.

Hello! I am having issues with USB car play only when the truck is hot. Once the truck cools off the car play automatically turns on. Is anyone having the same issues? I have both a 2021 Rebel and a 2021 Laramie and they both do the exact same thing. Please help!

I have the 8.4 in my 2020 and it does the same thing sometimes. I'll plug my phone in and the phone goes in to a constant loop of trying to start android auto, and I get a non-stop message on the 8.4 of "device not supported". I'm using a Pixel 5.

One fix I've done is pull the negative terminal on the battery, wait 5 minutes, reconnect and AA works as it should. It's like the software on the 8.4 gets stuck. Simply turning the truck off and back on does not clear it.

I wish I knew which fuse to pull to restart the 8.4. It's not labeled on the fuse box. Google is no help here either. My unit is up to date on software.
