I've got 25k on my 2019 PW and gonna change the front and rear, sounds like everyone recommends amsoil 75w-90 or do i need something different for the 2019? is there a con to putting the mopar additive in as well with the amsoil? also the dealer told me there arent gaskets on the 2019 and you seal them with silicone? is that wrong?

Got a 2019 too, you don't need the additive because there is no clutch pack. It's Torsen ( ? )
Used Amsoil SEVERE GEAR® 75W-90, brake cleaner and reused the gasket. ( It's the reusable kind )
Good luck and send pics

fyi - Amsoil Severe Gear has LS friction modifier additive. I discussed this with them before I changed my rear axle. I didn't want it because it delays lockup. Went with Mobil Delvac 1 75W-90. The only other 2 gear oils without additive are Mopar and Red Line NS. I researched all this.

Lucas 75W-90 doesn't contain the LS additive either from my research. Went with Lucas due to local retailer availability.

You might want to check into the quality of that brand.

@Burla has test study of gear oils.

Outstanding reviews. Pour point for Lucas 75W-90 versus Amsoil 75W-90 at minus 50 Celsius wasn't as good per a video. My last time at minus 50 Fahrenheit (don't know what Celsius) was 3 decades ago and my only issue with my 1984 GMC stick was that the shifter boot kept popping it back into neutral. Not worried.

Ok, but I'm not talking about specsmanship.

I just looked at a Amsoil white paper 2007 analysis of Lucas synthetic gear oil performance versus other brands. Failed in the temperature specifications. Have 8 new quarts of Lucas, but not impressed. Thanks.

Ordered the Mobil Delvac 1 75W-90.

The Delvac pours to minus 48C which out performs the Lucas specs.

Correct - it says in your manual it is not "required". The manufacturer of the differential says is is not DESIRED for the reason I stated. I posted the statement somewhere in the Forum.

I was planning to go with Mopar too. On the internet the Mopar is as low as $12 per quart, but with shipping of 8 quarts it worked out to $20 a quart. Delvac was $100 for 9 quarts with free shipping.

I lived in both the San Francisco Bay area and the Los Angeles area prior to leaving California in the 90's. Nothing like a perfect warm climate for no worries.

So I changed my rear diff oil at 800miles with expensive amsoil. The fill plug has been seeping so I removed it to check level and ad sealant to the threads. This is what I found on the magnet on fill plug after just a few hundred miles.

Couple of thoughts/questions
should I have waited until at least 2k miles to change?
should I be concerned about this metallic paste present on the fill plug?
would you change the oil again after a number of more miles, or just run it like it is?
Does/did your fill plug come with a washer of any sorts, mine did not?

youll see paste on the magnet like antiseize compound but normally it isnt gritty. if yours is very fine grit i wouldnt be worried just yet. did you pull the cover and wipe the inside out ? if theres grit i would probly pull the cover again in a thousand or two more miles and check everything again.
yep theres a rubber washer for the plug. you can see the recess on the bolt head where it fits.

thank you, it is indeed like antiseize, I did wipe out the first time, lots of that type of paste, and only a couple of small metal flakes.

Is that paste a antiseize they put it or just grindings from the gears? First time the oil was very milky/silvery, Im thinking its probably like that again.

I guess I need to track down the washer. Thanks for your help

I am a bit confused so is this the first time you changed it or actually the second time? If the second time and only 800 miles I am surprised there is anything on the magnet. good luck finding just the rubber gasket. My dealership said it was not available so you had to buy the entire plug...Seems they get chewed up everytime you pull the plug for some reason. When I changed mine early on I had nothing really on the plug at all.
