I installed the catch can at 60K miles. I am currently at 134K miles and have not touched the catch can in term of maintenance. During my last oil change, I noticed that the catch can was bone dry when I went to empty it; I thought this was strange as I usually get an ounce during the summer and 2 during the winter. I went to remote start the truck and a plume of smoke came out. I suspected that the engine sucked in that nasty liquid and blew that into the intake manifold. I took the catch can apart and it was a complete disaster (see pics); large chunks of carbon clogged the can top and bottom. I used carb cleaner and gasoline to clean out the can. I found out that the vacuum side of the baffle was completely clogged. I am now going to maintain the catch can every 15K miles from now on. Hope this was helpful.

Did you pull the screws and remove the steel wool and wash it in gas to. I run Moroso cans, and have cleaned them when swapping from one vehicle to another, and always pull them apart and clean them, but even at 35,000 miles,i've never seen one that nasty, just how many miles have you ran that can with-out cleaning it.

Yup pulled off the screws and soaked the entire unit in gas. Like 18CD calculated 74K miles (d'oh!). Never letting the catch can go this long ever again!

You should be emptying it with each oil change

Mine was a bit of a pain, if i had a HEMI now, the catch can would have a barbed hose fitting on it with a close off valve on it

I should be cleaning mine out. Like the baffle as well. I have the UPR catch can. I haven’t had any issues with blockage, however I’ll clean it up and see. Thanks for the heads up post!
