Are the Remflex 6022s better than the OEM gaskets?
I've been running the Remflexes on my nitrous'd truck with JBA long tubes for 6 years now,and i'm also running them on my wifes nitrous'd 1320 Challenger with JBA long tubes, and i've never had any issues with them. They're a graphite gasket, that'll absorb a fair bit of header flange warpage with-out leaking.Google Remflex gaskets and check them out,any decent speed shop should have them in stock. The only thing they don't take kindly to ,is being bent,so you do have to exercise a bit of caution when you install them,i've never even re-torqued them on my truck, lol

I have the Ceramic coated JBA's on mine and they have been through three winters and do not leak and still look great.
I used Remflex gaskets and Bolts that came with them.
Use the right gasket,(Remflex) The ones that come with the JBA'a are Garbage. No Need for expensive bolts they are only torqued to 18FT Lbs

Back in 2015, I found an open box set of BBK 4014s at amazon for $69 (nope, not a typo) and put them on 7 years ago with felpro type gaskets snotted up with hi-temp silicone. Never had a issue since. Getting the broken bolts out (reason i upgraded) was a b*tch but worth it!

I have read many threads on the broken manifold bolts and replacement headers. I have JBA shorty headers on my truck now, after having the dreaded Hemi tick due to broken bolts. After replacement, there is another leak, but on the drivers side now. According to the exhaust shop, the gasket was worthless, they showed me, it was bare in a few spots, and now the drivers side header is warped.
Many people have said BBK & JBA are crap, Kook are awesome, but expensive. Has anyone ever used aFe shorty headers 48-42001-1 ?
I have a 2010 ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi.
Thoughts/suggestions appreciated!
I use Gibson shorty headers. But I do have the 4.7L with other modifications to make it a little faster than stock. Gotta say I'm impressed.

Nice! I haven't heard of Gibson before, but I didn't see them offered for the 5.7L. My options for shorty headers that work with my engine are: JBA, aFe, kook and BBK. I ordered the aFe ones, which will hopefully resolve my exhaust leak issue! I will post how they work and how easy they are to install.

Gibson doesn't make anything for a 4th Gen 4.7 or 5.7.They used to be a decent header supplier for the earlier 3rd Gens and older

The AFE shorties are a great option. It is actually our recommended option due to their quality and fitment. Kooks are great but are very expensive, at that price point mind as well go long tubes. The AFE shorties are our best selling shorty headers. If you would like a quote on a set message me. We currently have a few sets in stock!
Please send me a quote on the AFE shorties for an 06 Ram 5.7. I’m getting a reman engine from Powertrain Products and want to have shorties installed with the engine

Headers installed this past weekend, they look nice! Def better than the other ones that were rusted. Forgot to take before pics.
We installed the AFE shorties on @the_goodguy07 last year and it wasn't that bad ..the worst part was removing the broken manifold bolt which broke right at the head and it was flush with the head on the passenger side lol ... used a welder and had it out in like 5 minutes ...

The worst part of mine was the oil dipstick tube. The guy who replaced the headers the first time, weaved it through the headers and lost/broke the o-ring that goes on the tube into the block, so he used black RTV instead. Longer story short, couldn't find the o-ring or one that would work without leaving my truck in pieces for weeks, so black RTV to the rescue!

At least you got it to work with some good ole' RTV lol .... I want to add them to my truck too at some point just to avoid the inevitable broken manifold bolts later on lol ...

Just did the AFE shorties myself last weekend. Had 3 broken studs, two passenger rear and one front driver side (dipstick). For me, removing the studs was the easy part. Picked up a fluxcore welder from harbor freight which worked great. Now, installing the new bolts was rediculous especially on the driver's side. Terrible design, yes tool clearance matters. In a few spots the weld bead interferes with the wrench fitting on the bolt head when drawning them down. Overall, got it done and blood was involved.

LOL ...yes the driver's was a bit tedious but patience helps .... we had to extract only 1 broken bolt on the passenger's side, we used a welder as well and out it came, took 5 minutes if that to take out ...

Did you wrap them or get them ceramic coated ?
