I have a 2020 ram 1500 classic. Single cab short bed, lowered. When I got the truck I bought the Diablo pulsar. First off, it does not shut off the MDS. That’s ******** so don’t waste your money. Secondly, it runs your odometer through the sky. Case in point; I drive my truck twice a week. I go to Lowe’s and back twice a week and it’s a 6 mile round-trip. 12 miles in total. I bought the truck at the end of March and 21 with 15 miles on it. I now have almost 8000 miles on my truck and I drive an average of 12 miles a week. I took the pulsar off and it seems to have slowed it down but now I have all of these miles and hours on my truck that I can’t get off. It says I have over 400 hours of idle time. Again, an absolute impossibility but that’s what it says and I have no idea how to actually change it. The reality is that the truck probably doesn’t have 2000 miles on it. I’ve been reading the posts about alphaOBDII but they said you can’t do anything about the hours. I’m at my wits end. I take incredible care of my truck because it’s my first new vehicle. My OCD is on steroids over this issue so I’m absolutely open to suggestions/advice/help. Thank you.

They were no use. Denied it was possible but what else could it be?
I found a brand new zero mile cluster and am considering swapping it out but don’t know where the mileage and idle hours are stored

mileage is stored in the cluster along with the ECM. The cluster doesn't read the ECM for the mileage it's stored independently. I'm guessing engine hours are the same

I don't have the full understanding of how engines calculate idle time, but it does seem possible that it is not just in park or neutral that counts. Over the years I have read countless times where low rpms at low speeds appear to count towards idle time and it seems Ford might have confirmed this for at least one of their engines in the past, but dang if I can find that now. And I also believe there could be a rounding function in that it doesn't count every second individually but rather reaches a point in time where it bounces to a full hour. I can't confirm this, just trying to offer that without knowing exactly how computers in vehicles "think", it could be equating your minimal usage as extreme and rounding up more often. That could account for hours, but no idea on mileage other than you clicked on a really small tire diameter by accident and it counted every actual mile as multiples.

I noticed that you have what looks like Ram SRT 10 wheels on the truck. Is the diameter of your wheel and tire package greater than, less than or equal to stock? A smaller overall diameter tire will have more revolutions and would increase what you would see as the miles traveled.

This is a thread from 2022. The OP has not been back since June 2023. Doubtful he will see your responses.

I just saw the thread title and it finally hit me. Sounds like some of my past vehicles, mileage went on them way to fast. Out of control odometer. Needed a chuckle today.
