Looking to see if anyone has any insight into maintaining the correct transmission fluid level after installing a thermal bypass valve. With it installed the transmission never gets close to the 180 degree mark to have an accurate measure of the fluid when hot. It generally runs 140-145 max, occasionally getting to 160-165 in more extreme cases.

That's fine for level checking. Err to just the low end if you're concerned. Which trans do you have?

The 8hp temp range for level checking is something like 80-120F as I recall. FYI.
