When I try to play my Walkman, all I get is the message, "Media Files Not Found" on the USB 1 connection port. On the #2 USB port, when the Walkman is plugged in, I get a "Connect Device" message on the screen. My thumb drive works when connected to either port. The Walkman works just fine on my 18 Laramie. Can't figure out what's going wrong on the 22 Big Horn.

check with uconnect for software update. or you will just have wait till they fix it.
recall there being a place to report bugs as well. New version has a lot of bugs.

Is there any chance that there is an item in the menu of the Walkman that says something like "act as USB drive" or something like that like to old smart phones did. I'm reaching as it worked in your 18 but you never know.

U Connect 5 vs U connect 4. U Connect 5 having all sorts of glitches, well has been reported ne way. Can you change out the file output type? Maybe the file output is not being read ne more, hmmmmmmm. That would be my best guess. The outputted files from the Walkman, ie., file extensions that the Walkman uses, is no longer supported by U Connect 5, that would be my guess.

More info: From what I was able to find out, the Walkman outputs the following formats: Sony's ZX1 Walkman supports AAC (a lossy file format), FLAC, MP3 and WMA. The U Connect 5 system in your RAM will only read MP3 or MP 4. SO if not in those 2 file formats, will read looking for files, unable to play media.

I don't deny there are glitches with Uconnect 5. It seems the auto manufacturers are more concerned with money than quality of product and don't thoroughly test and correct their products prior to placing on the market.

My walkman is simply a library of music waiting to be heard just like the thumb drive. Much better than Serious (-2 SP) as it's MY music collected over 55 years.

What exactly is the device you are trying to use? The USB will only read a "hard drive", you cannot stream media from a walkman over usb.

If your walkman has a 2.5mm headphone jack you could plug that into the aux input and start the music manually from the device.

Go here and at the end input your VIN ... if you don't see Media Hub (2 USB, Aux) in the list then your truck is not equipped with USBs that can read media, music ..

I sort of knew Sony still made an MP3 player under the Walkman name, but are they sold in the US? Maybe ask Ram if they are supported under the newest Uconnect? Did you try your Zune? ;)

I am an old dinosaur. That coupled with where we live (no cell phone coverage nor ability to watch any videos or music from the net/clouds) has ensured I am almost a total technological idiot. I will get an adapter to go from USB to the small plug in Apple has so I can transfer the contents of the Walkman to the 'outer and then transfer the to a thumb drive.

I read about what others are able to do with their phones and knowledge gained from Youtube and sometimes wish I had that. What I have is remote property where the deer, turkeys and elk visit quite often. Appreciate the meat from the field and watching God's creation more than the tech I don't have. I made it 70 years without it so I guess I should figure out work arounds now.

Thank you all for your assistance. The dealership wants me to take it to their service dept. but I do not trust them; have already had more negative experiences with them than need be. Thanks again.

First of all, do Not take it to the service department. There is nothing wrong with your truck, it just doesn't work like that and will be a waste of your time

As far as streaming from a phone, that is a little different as there are apps that can do that to some degree but those are based around the android operating system (or apple) and already have "hooks" into the uconnect system via android auto and car play.

You best bet as you said is to transfer it all over to a usb thumb drive and you should be good to go.

If you can get Starlink, you may be able to have both. There's extremely limited cell coverage (you can climb a hill and get text messages to send, but not good enough for voice or data) and no broadband internet at my rural property. Even on dialup, 33.6 was as good as you could do because of the electric fences interfering with the lines and how far from a switch it was.

If I ever move back there full time that's probably the route I would try to go.

Sad to suggest, but, Dealerships don't repair our
Infotainment System, ie: ( Radio )
They remove them & send them off to a Repair Facility that is under contract to the Radio Manufacturer
ie:
Harman Kardon
Harman Kardon is a division of US-based Harman International Industries, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics etc.

Every Ram I have driven would read a USB stick with MP3 files, except for my 17 1500 QC.
