the weight distribution hitch, acts like a brace, it shifts some of the rear wheel weight from rear springs,, forward to the front springs & actually gives the truck better steering control

Yes I can try to lighten it up, there's nothing in the bed. Definitely less water, I can try a WDH never had one. I usually use a e250 van with 225hp 4.6 that pulled it perfectly, until I broke the flex plate last week. I just picked up this 5.7 1500 until I can fix my van.

Those 3/4 and 1 ton vans are no joke. Guaranteed it has way more payload than your truck. Check the door jamb stickers. But even it looks like it's kinda wilting in that first pic.

Agree with previous comment about getting everything weighed. I’d be concerned about axle weight ratings, I think a 1500 is only rated at 4100 lbs

Lets see 525 gallons of water is 4357.5 @ 8.3 lb per gallon then add in the 750lb times 2 comes to 5857.5 plus the weight of the trailer, I would think your at or close to max weight for your truck, your water tank looks like it needs to shift to the rear of the trailer a bit more so its directly centered over both axels..

I'll try these, is there a discount code for ram forum? How do I find which rear end I have? I was trying to look up the towing capacity.
If you gas it from a stop and toast the tires you likely have 3.92's, if you mash the gas on a good grip surface and at best you chirp - 3.55's. But, this really isnt the issue here, the issue is tongue load. Do you always tow in tow haul mode, the button on the center dash council?

I don't know of any code on Ram forum, might find one online. The springs are easy to install also.

Put your vin in here and it should give you how the truck was built.

You've got way too much weight on the hitch. Balance the load on your trailer. The max towing capacity of a Ram 1500 is around 7500 lbs, and there should be no more than 10-15% of that weight riding on the hitch.

The problem is you will likely exceed GRAWR and GCWR before getting to your max tow capacity. IIRC GRAWR on that gen 1500 is about 3900lbs. I know for sure that a 9300 travel trailer on a 2020 Tacoma had 4260lbs on the rear axle and the trailer was empty off the lot with nothing it it and we were at 12% tongue weight. Granted it is a different brand vehicle and there may be other factors at play here but that TT is still 1000lbs below your max 'tow capacity'. Total weight was at 15,800lbs. His Tundra was rated to tow 9800lbs and you can see he wasn't able to get near that. Besides, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be fun towing 11,000lbs with a 1500

@djtomy, you need to check/post the door stickers. What we're saying is you're putting too much weight on your truck. The engine can pull it (that was never the issue), but the truck cannot carry it. The door sticker will tell you exactly how many pounds you can put on your truck. Same thing with that E250 which probably has twice the payload of your truck.

Like others said, you need to adjust the stuff on your trailer and lighten your tongue weight. I tow a 7000-8000 lb horse trailer with my 1500 without a WDH with no problems. I installed load leveling airbags to help smooth out the ride and take some strain off the springs but I definitely don’t have that kind of squat!

which bags did you use? I might try the 1211 springs first. I had to replace the radiator today so I didn't get a chance to work on this problem.IMG_9247.jpg

Get that 100 feet of corrugated drain pipe in that tank before the sloshing causes your trailer to slip off the hitch! ...Don't play with danger homie seriously, I have seen it happen!

Those are awesome, get them at any RV dealer. I pulled a camper for BinL with a '97 1500 4x4 once. Squatted it. Put on the bars/chains locked in and you could hardly tell there was a trailer on the truck.

The airbags just hide the problem and the reason for using a WDH

I ordered the 1211 springs, should be here in a few days. I'll see if that works if not I'll sell the 1500 and get a 2500.
