I have reviewed many posts here regarding the bed cover.

I have narrowed it down to the BAKFLIP MX4 TONNEAU COVER which I have on a 2016 Chevy Colorado I inherited from an Uncle. I like it with one exception... when folding all the way up to the cab it is difficult to see out the back window.

I also like the TRUXEDO SENTRY however, I am not a huge fan of the velcro edges. I just see them getting clogged with dirt and wearing out quickly over time. I like that it rolls up and does not obstruct the rear window view.

It's a tough decision.

My Uncle's 2016 Colorado (Black Betty) is very basic and he added some really nice accessories to it. It's black with only 10,000 miles on it was 8,000 when I got it. He added the plastic wheel well arches and mud flaps, the GOLD chevy emblem was replaced throughout the vehicle with the BLACK emblem. Added the rails on the the bed sides, step rails on the side of the cab. Full body clearcoat protection the repels rain and water. Special rain repellent to all of the windows. Trailer towing package and trailer brakes. Bed cover, bed rug, saddle cases in the bed. The bed has a sprayed in liner. Other than that she's basically stock with the V6. A super pristine ride!!! The only thing he missed was cruise control. And he placed the real bucks in his off-road vehicles. The truck was only for towing his toys on his Tommy Aluminum Trailer (AWD Side-By-Side, Dedicated Rock Climbing Jeep Rubicon and his Diesel Sportsmobile) to the desert near by.

We use this truck here in Washington state and the used RAM is for our second home in Arizona.

Any thoughts on the bed cover would be greatly appreciated!

I have the factory hard cover, wish I had the BAKFLIP! The factory one won't fold up all the way. The Truxedo is the same, won't let you use the full bed where the BAKFLIP will.

Rear window is really only an issue when it's folded fully up, how often would that be? Once in a blue moon for me! Between my side mirrors and backup cam the rearview mirror is rarley used if at all for backing up. While driving down the road it would be no difference than having a tall load that you would need to fold the cover up for anyways such as a washer/drier.

I have the Gator FX quad fold exactly the same thing as the MX4 from bakflip ..you can find it for almost $200 cheaper ... it is the exact same company only difference is that Gator covers are the private label after bakflip was sold ... nothing in product quality is different, you are paying $200-$400 more just for the name lol ..

My buddy has had no issues with any of his Truxedo tonneau covers, he has put them on all three of his trucks '04, '14, '22.

Personally a rearview mirror in a pick up truck used for hauling and towing is good for seeing the passengers in the back seat.

I went through the same thing a couple of years ago. I ride with the bed open enough that blocking the back window was a concern. Went with the Sentry and I've been very happy with it. No issues with the velcro at all. And I can remove the entire cover in less than a minute, a very handy feature. I think they are both great choices, but the Sentry works best for me.

I’m a big fan of the roll up style. I’ve had a couple of the Truxedos on my last few trucks and they held up pretty well.

I also have used the Truxedo roll up tonneau several times. They’re relatively cheap, hold up very well, keep the bed dry and easy to use.
My 2019 (used) came with a Retrax bed cover. They are $1200 and I hate it. Hard to roll up and down on a hill, box takes up bed space, and it leaks like crazy. If I could sell the dumb thing I’d buy a Truxedo in a heartbeat.

The only time that i might use my rear view mirror, is when i am backing up against something like a tree.
I do have the tailgate camera too, so the mirror is a double check

But look at your pictures. That tailgate camera is not doing you any good at all. Yeah, you can use the mirrors. Not a huge deal. But I decided there was nothing I was losing by going with the Sentry over the Backflip, and there were some gains there as I stated above. Just made more sense to me.

I have the Retraxone MX.
I had the quad fold but it was a pain in the butt because I had to fold the first section in order to access the swing out storage compartments. Also wouldn't fold all the way because of my Rinho light/roll bar.

I have not depended on seeing out the back window of any truck I have owned but instead I use the side mirrors. Having a tailgate camera is a welcome addition with the newer trucks for use in parking lots and for attaching a trailer.

Put 3" convex mirrors on the upper inside corner of the left and right side view mirrors and for $10 you will have no need to use the rear view mirror.

This right here . Bought it on Amazon prime day for $140. Mine is only a Tri fold, but I love it. It has rained multiple times already since I’ve had it and my bed has stayed completely dry.

My fiancé can very easily open it herself, which was important for when she uses the truck.

Also I just helped a friend move and it is super easy to just pop right off when you need the extra bed space.

Only had it 2 weeks but I highly recommend it so far!!!! So worth the money!

My Truxedo low pro has velcro side attachments. Velcro is just fine after 5 years.

I call bull****t on no need to use the reaview mirror.Do you drive on a highway ,i'm starting to think not, with that dumb-asss comment. The rearview mirror is still beneficial when you're driving on a highway.Couple of your comments lately haven't really made any sense, including this one,but the one about the swaybar the other day,was down right stupid.

Don’t know about that Wild one. Some folks have truck caps without windows. Some use slide in campers. That rear view mirror is useless in those situations. I’m old enough to remember trucks from the 50s through the 80s came with larger side view mirrors standard.
