I've tried getting assistance through RamCares 2 years ago when my truck was in for an alignment. The dealer wanted $1000.00 to replace the drag link. I opened a case and Ram's response was....

"Most authorized dealerships will and can break the weld, do the alignment and weld it back up."

I have yet to find a dealership willing to do that.

I have PM'd @RamCares and have not received a response as of yet.

Not good. @RamCares , could you please intervene here with the dealer, assist moparcruiser and get him a replacement drag link? If his was welded under the recall, he should be eligible for a replacment?

The replacement links have only been available for the last six months or so . Everyone seems to be having good results @RamCares now.

They have been available a lot longer then that. My draglink was replaced by Ramcares almost 2 years ago (Aug 2020) after reaching out to them on here.

I just had mine replaced last week due to going through the "being welded recall" and my steering wheel being about 10 degrees off center. @RamCares replied to a message I had sent originally and requested vehicle information. It only took about a month and a half from the time message was originally sent to the end in which the welded was replaced with a new adjustable one. Nothing negative to say here other than is maybe the dealership some of y'all maybe are dealing with.

UPDATE

Received call this morning from FCA Customer Assistance. Part is on order and I will be notified when it arrived at my dealer.

Thanks @GsRAM @Daw14 and Sarah @RamCares
Great. But I'd advise keeping on it. I was told that early on in my journey with RamCares too. Turned out it was never ordered that time. But they did end up getting it done, after I learned I needed to keep checking on the progress.

I had no issues once I called ram customer service direct. They researched it, then called to tell me the part was ordered and being sent direct to my dealer. I then called the dealer and advised them of that and they called me about 2 weeks later to advise they had the part and to schedule my appointment. All went well and I've had no issues since.

No vehicle is perfect. It still does the park to reverse grind noise they said was normal and I still smell coolant after running it which they say is also normal because it's a vented system. I'm not loosing coolant that I can tell so I just run it and dont worry about it.

This 6.4 powered 2500 HD is by far the most favorite and best truck I've ever owned.

FINALLY! Many thanks to Sarah @RamCares. I was contacted by Ram Customer Care a couple of weeks ago. I picked my dealer for the install, Sharita made sure they sent the draglink to the dealer and took care of handling payment with the warranty admin. Made my appointment and had it replaced today. Process was easier than I thought it would be, and exactly as it should have been.

Just a follow up question on this recall.
Are dealers now able to get this part if we take the truck in? Or are people having to go through RamCares in order to get the recall done correctly instead of the ludicrous welding "fix"?

I just saw this thread. My steering wheel is pointed to the right about 10° or so. I looked up how to correct this and was going to correct or adjust my drag link. I found out that the bolts had been welded in place and I was there for unable to make an adjustment. I also saw where another person on a YouTube video had some sort of reimbursement after he installed a synergy heavy duty drag link. Any suggestions on how I should proceed and has anyone else had any success in being reimbursed for non OEM repair? I definitely don't like the idea of the drag link being welded in place. That's kind of a crazy fix
btw I have a 2018 ram 2500

Update: I cut the weld with a grinder and made the adjustment. Should I just take the path of possible least resistance and re-weld the bolts OR should I pursue a "real fix? And what are my options?

Send a PM to Sarah @RamCares and that will start the ball rolling. From the PM to installation date was about 6 weeks, but most of that was me not being able to drop the truck at the dealer. Could have got it done sooner.
