I've been wondering about using ARP (American Racing Parts) "12 point" bolts. Apparently, THEY, won't break under the strain and, I believe, broken bolts are the biggest part of what allows the manifolds to warp.

if not mistaken (I sure as hell couldnt find them) I dont think ARP makes studs for the 5.7 hemi - I decided to bail the oe manifolds and went with BBK shorties and have been happy so far with performance and looks.

Thats a google question, and, why are you sourcing other used manifolds? You already have whats needed? NEW always warp, just like the originals.
The 6.1/6.4 manifolds in the cars and Jeeps, are basically a shorty style header, they don't have any warp issues, like the trucks cast manifolds do.

I got the BBK shorties, For the price and what you get it's hard to complain i am very happy with them. The hardest part to install is getting the broken bolts out of the block. once those are out they are not too hard to install there are a couple bolts that are a pain in the ass to get to. All in all not to hard of a job just take your time and have fun with it.

Last year I replaced the bolts and gaskets on my manifolds. Passengerside had 2 broken and driver side had 1 broken. Didn't do any machine work, so far no issues. I checked all bolts last month and their still intact with no leaks. Maybe I'm just lucky....

I'm not drag racing, and 18 mpg is all I could ask for from this engine, so I am sticking with planing/truing the original manifold surfaces. Is this a situation where, the manifold may be too warped to machine? Anyone who'd done this, I'd like some encouragment.

Again, new manifolds will warp? or not? Which came first, the warping which broke the bolts, OR the bolts breaking, which allowed the manifolds to warp and leak.........

From what we have seen, its the manifolds warping causing the bolts to break. Yes, new manifolds will warp. We have had several customers with warped manifolds, buy new OEM manifolds to only have them warp, then they go to headers and never have the issue again.

Thanks Nick! However, putting a grand into an 8 yr. old RAM, with 115 K requires that the owner either win the lottery, or have been fed paint chips as a youngster...

Huh? Everything costs a grand to fix anymore and 115k truck is worth a lot.

Howdy folks, Newbie here as I just signed up on this forum today. My '21 Ram with 5.7 developed this problem at 53k miles back in May '22. Both sides are jacked up. I purchased the extended warranty when I bought this truck in November of '20. The manifold problem is covered under such. Back in May when I took it to the dealer they of course knew straight away what my problem was. They told me the new bolts would back order when ordered...I told them the manifolds must be warped and I wanted new manifolds as well, not just new bolts. They have obliged and ordered new manifolds, gaskets and bolts. They indicated these "kits" should be in sometime in July. Still waiting as of 8.31.22 and not real happy with this. After I all I have read about the problem returning I am even less happy. Have a great day!!!
