Stupid question. I’ve been using the 20-820 and RL 5W-30 thanks to the threads here (and Bob the oil guy). 20-500 sounds interesting, but doing a search on RPs site turns up the 10-48. The advantage to that one appears to be its in stock (including other places like Summit). I suppose this should work?
There is plenty 20-500 in stock out there, amazon had it on sale yesterday, haven't checked today, 11.99. We have had guys running this as their choice ever since we found it several years ago, some prefer the shape. There is a "potential" issue with the smaller filters like the 10-48 and cel's. It has never happened with larger filters across the board. Chances are you can run the smaller filter without issue, but most people agree the larger filter is more beneficial across the board. Will take the sump to 7.5 quarts as well. The clone to the RP amsoil ea smaller filter has a manu tsb from amsoil that says don't use it in rams and other 5.7's. IMO it is just good form to run the larger filter,. fram ultra xg2 is also a good choice even a little larger.

So the Amsoil EAO11 is suppose to be a clone to the RP 20-820? I think that was what I was gathering from earlier posts. Is the cost the reason people are staying away from it?

Any oil filter maker will only provide the OEM size in a search - they will not suggest alternate, larger filters. Hence these Forums that help users find better performing options.

No doubt I would of never known about the 20-820 let alone choosing RP over all others had it not been for you and others here in the forums so thank you :)

The Fram Titanium FS2 from advanced auto is still the old wire backed og ultra media. The inlet holes are also alot larger than the ultra. Nice alternative to the rp 20-820. The amsoil eao11 is very similar but not exactly the same as the rp 20-820, the baseplate for one and pleat count is also different on the ones i have cut open. Long time lurker, first time poster. Have owned 4 5.7 hemi powered vehicles, 3 rams and 1 challenger. Hemis made me go down the oil and filter rabbit hole about 15 years ago. Been following burla since he started the redline adventure.

I forgot about that, in every comparison it is noted about the glue level in ea versus rp, I encourage people to look that up too. Not to mention you have to jojn a club to buy ea, you still have to buy amsoil club 25 bucks to order?

You don’t have to be a preferred member to order. In order to get the discounted price you pay 25 for a yearly membership. If you spend more than 500 yr then they wave it. It’s worth it if you purchase all your fluids with them. I usually save on average of 30 bucks or so on each order

Amsoil filter EAO11-EA is 22.90 and apparently you get 5 dollars off if you join. So discount club price is 18 bucks per filter. Just to compare. How about shipping?

I see it is only 10 dollars for 6 mos membership, but their discounted price is well above what you see RP sold at. 11.99 for their 20-500 free shipping 25 bucks amazon. But amsoil is cheaper then redline, so if you are gonna get all your fluids there it makes sense just 10 bucks.,

Shipping is free with if you spend 100 bucks or more. Its sometimes not worth it but most of the time I spend more than that each time. Especially if I’m getting trans fluid or gear oil

I bought and have the EAO11 filter coming for my 6.4. I also ordered a rp 20-500 just in case I have an issue with the Amsoil. I like options but damn this filter thing is nuts.

Thanks as always for the detailed answers.

Interesting… so we go from 3.62” to 3.75 to 4.87. Go big or go home! I would have worried about fitting that in what’s already an annoyingly tight and awkward location so never thought to try it without this community. Will pick up a 20-500 for the next oil change to experiment.

Thanks again!

Many guys put a bypass or two filter set up, makes it way easier to change, even just a single filter relocate kit. The psi's on these prove it is neutral, neither higher or lower psi.

Spent $330 last night to grab 2 cases Red Line 0W-30 from Bezos-World for mid-Minnesota winters. This from the Red Line Store on Amazon. Indicated only 6 cases remaining - forever? Recall RL announced reformulating their 0W's to API SP since race cars don't need a 0W oil.

Still not too worried about oil filters - at least we have multiple brands and part numbers to pick from as supply ebbs and flows. It's the oil that's the real problem for the Hysterical Hemi.

I run the dual transdapt kit on mine, with upgraded -10 (5/8") hoses and fittings, but there's other kits available. I'm a firm believer in porting and rounding off any sharp corners and cleaning up any internal casting flash on any aftermarket set-up you settle on. I run the kit that uses the older style 3/4 - 16 thread pitch filters as you can get the filters in the middle of nowhere, but you can spec most kits to use the newer 22mm X 1.5 thread pitch filters if you want
