Just some info for anyone considering the MDS delete and installing the blocking plugs.

First, if you can, get the OEM versions of the plugs. They have better o-rings

Second, loctite the threads on the retaining bolts

Third, and this is just my advice/YMMV, do a dab of black RTV on the upper o-ring area...

I deleted mine about two years ago, and have been fighting an oil leak lately. Couldn't really tell where it was coming from. I was worried I was leaking from the rear main seal because from underneath it looked like oil was coming from the back of the engine and getting on the the trans and crossover pipe. No good! Finally noticed a little pool of oil in one of the low areas under the intake manifold. Stuck a bore scope under there and found most of the MDS delete plugs were leaking, and the oil was pooling/finding its way to the back of the engine and dripping down. Pulled the manifold, found that the bolts were only on finger tight. Installed OEM plugs, little bit of black RTV and red loctite, leak is gone...

Hi Guys
Hopefully Im not hijacking the thread, but seems to be on point.

I'm about to delete MDS myself, and am being told that the Block Plugs aren't actually a necessity??! So that would obviously mean, keeping the solenoids in place (unless Im missing something) Anyone else go this route?

I am installing non MDS cam and lifters, so I'm not referring to just deleting the MDS in tuner ONLY - which I see is not the recommended approach on this forum.

The block plugs arent all that expensive, but not the first time Ive been told they have tendency to leak, so wondering if I need to remove the solenoids at all........

Pull the solenoids and use Ma Mopars delete plugs, they route oil to the lifters better then the solenoids do.Just follow James advice about using a small smear of RTV on the o-rings,and loctite the bolts in.Make sure the holes are clean before installing the plugs.

Yea, be careful if you use any knock off plugs that are offered by some online retailers. I had one fail on me after a couple weeks in the truck. Luckily the truck was idling in the driveway when I noticed oil start to pour out of my engine. I traced it to the top of the block and discovered 3 of the MSD block off plugs had trashed o-rings and one was missing the seal completely. I figured the plugs weren’t and integral moving component like your lifters or springs so I went the cheap route. Obviously poor judgement on my part.
