When i first got my truck the mobil oil recomendation on their site only recomended the super synthetic for the 5.7. Ever since stellantis took over it changed to varius mobil 1 products as well including EP 0w20
Dexos gets the fancy label, specs like ms6395 just get a statement on the jug. So it really is hard to even know what is fca approved, even on a PUP bottle just a generic statement. I have to think anyone who recommends it for ms6395 is good?

I have two rules:
Michelin LTX and royal purple or Mobil 1 full synthetic. I also put a bed slider in and a retrax electric cover. I would also look at Amsoil but we do not have it readily available. Filters are the biggie. You can run fantastic oil but if you do not run as good of a filter, it is just a moot point. I change at 30% with the exception of my 2021 Renegades which does not have a oil % guage. You take care of it and it will take care of you.

It's about getting paid:
1) minimize warranty claims
2) tradename spec royalties and licenses

Follow the money.

I covered the 180F thermostat and the grille shutter delete over a year ago.

We're still running the 180F thermostat successfully in the RAM 1500 DS. On long trips, while pulling a 3000lbs trailer, the oil and coolant don't break 210F.

Also, this is a real thing that can make some men irritable, emotional, and irrational, sometimes even causing amnesia: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/male-menopause.

@The Critic

I agree this is irrelevant minutia, but this is Dave's response to my email asking which formulas don't have vii's. There are some advantages to use an oil w/o vii's that everyone understands, but is the juice worth the squeeze? individual choice...

Doesnt redline have a 15w40? if so I wonder why that didnt make the list. I did only ask for multigrade, of course the sae choices have none as well.

Mike,

Our Motor Oils that don’t contain VI improvers are: 5W20, 10W30, 10W40, 15W50 and 20W50.

Dave Granquist

Can you send a link to that? Did you tune to get your fan to turn on at lower temp?

heavy use of pao base oils? Why would Dave make that bold statement? I find it credible. He could have just said it is propitiatory and such, but he didnt. Unless proven different, I believe him.

I'm unaware of any base stock oil blend that can deliver that high a viscosity index, but then again, I'm from the Mesesoic Era.

Didnt even look, maybe ester content is high as well, arent esters even higher vi then pao? I wasnt really want to delve into 50 weight oils today since I dont know anyone using them. Maybe something to actually consider if that is what it takes to kill you some hemi tick?

Googled for 15 minutes, couldn't find anything on oils with VI>200.

Exxonmobil has 2 polyol esters available. A 4.3 cst POE with a viscosity index of 136 and a 5.0 cst POE with a viscosity index of 130. Im not sure where redline gets POE from though. They could be using mPAO which are very thick and much higher viscosity than normal PAO

They'll run right around 185 with a 180 t-stat.My oil temps don't really apply to most, but on a 90F day and 75mph they'll run between 190 to 195 .Even with a 160 thermostat the evic will still show engine temps of 185,but oil temps on mine will drop down to 185 to 190,and the heater output sucks, lol.I'm not so sure if the evic is actually all that acurate, when it shows the same engine temps with either a 160 / 170 or 180 thermostat, but you can tell the coolant isn't the same temp, just by putting your hand by the heater
