What exactly is included with this package? I see the 5 holes and plugs for them. Also the trailer wiring in the bed. Is there any supports under the bed? I may would like to get a family members bobcat and bring it to the house and use it, he has a gooseneck trailer to haul it on. Is all I’d need is a ball and drop it in?

The fifth wheel prep puts a bracket in the center for the gooseneck along with the four mounts for the fifth wheel hitch rails
There a kit you can buy that will have the gooseneck ball and safety chain mounts.

Or you can go without the fifth wheel rails and get the Andersen fifth wheel hitch. This is what I use. It attaches to the center "puck" hole with the gooseneck ball.

I use the mopar/ curt 30k fifth wheel puck hitch coupled with a Gen y pin box and mor-ryde i.s., and it works great , especially with our auto leveling on the ram. I just don't see how either the truck or trailer could ride better.

I have the B&W 5th wheel hitch and the B&W gooseneck ball hitch.
Very happy with them both.
OP, to answer your question, you don't need to do anything with the Ram 5th wheel prep package.

Buy any hitch set ups, and you got three opinions of companies, and then hook up and go. No modifications needed.

Mine came with the 5th wheel prep. I was looking at getting a new trailers and it opened up different trailers for me. You wont need anything but a ball/hook set that works with the oem hitch. I went with B&W ball set installed with in 2 mins makes easy to remove as well.

Thanks for the responses. Trying to figure this beast out and what all I can do with it. Definitely a long awaited upgrade for towing over my 1500. Hopefully my son will get plenty of use out of it now like I did. He’s the new owner. I need to change my profile pic now.

Big step up in towing. My new trailer is 6500lbs empty almost more weight than a 1500 can pull lol.

I bought this in September last year hoping to upgrade trucks. It was a job getting it down the road with the 1500. I did it a hand full of times before I threw in the towel 47430423-C62C-4623-B122-104AC844CF5D.jpeg

Ohhhhhhhhh boy, you guys are cracking me up whining about maneuvering your 6500lb +/- trailers. Y'all sound like a bunch of rookies and if you are, ain't no shame, everyone has to start out somewhere.. but thank you for the laugh nun the less

Yeah that's a bit much for a 1500. Not just weight but wind would suck.

5th wheel/gooseneck prep group is a great setup regardless of which you use. I went with the MOPAR 5W mount, pricey but drop it in, close the 4 lock brackets and you’re ready to go.
