Hey guys- been off the forum for a while since I made the mistake of switching to a GM for a few years, but now it's time to get back into a Ram. I'm planning on ordering a truck this weekend. I've got a few must haves, the 6'4 bed, 3.92 gears, ORG, and night edition. I already know that as soon as I get the truck I'll be leveling it and throwing some tires and wheels on it. Here's my dilemma, I love the Limited front end, but I hate the fact that I have to get air suspension. So I'm stuck between a laramie or a limited. I know a laramie with ORG I can do a 2" level in the front only and that will give me the look I want. How bad are the air suspension problems, and what's the general consensus on the leveling links for the air suspension? I'm in New York, so we get cold winter which is where my worry about the air suspension comes in. Thanks in advance!

I doubt you can order a 2022. The switch to the 23 models is happening
very soon.

In case it is helpful, I placed a 2022 Laramie order yesterday. Had the VIN today. Ordering is still possible for the time being, anyway. Most of the features you mentioned. I avoided the air suspension, myself.

I have had 3 with air suspension and my son has had 2 with air and we have never had a problem in around 250,000 total miles.

Pro tips for Air Suspension in Winter:

  • ALWAYS have at least 1 water trap and drain it regularly!
  • Put anti brake freeze in your air tank to prevent condensation in your air lines
  • And/or drain your air tank 1-2 times a month to avoid water condensation
  • Keep your compressor air filter cleaned
  • Mount your compressor somewhere that it could get some warm air when you warm the car up before driving
  • Stay at ride height as long as possible to avoid using the compressor too much

Dealer told me I can still order a 2022, really I don't care if its a 22 or 23, just having more of a difficult decision deciding on laramie vs limited. @soapy that's a little more confidence inspiring in the air ride suspension.

I like the air suspension, truck not old enough to know if it’s reliable but it does ride nicely and I like being able to lower it and reach over the sides, raise it and change oil without a jack or ramps (still using jack stands of course in case air collapses). That said, if available without I would not have paid for it. The limited interior is amazing vs Laramie, which is also nice by market standards in my opinion. By the time you load up Laramie with everything standard on the limited, about same price.

Wow, that is educational. That means I want nothing to do with air.
I live in the north, the cold weather would be especially bad it looks like.

Before you make your final decision

Semi Trucks use AIR Brakes & Air Suspension.
They drive through the Winter across Interstate 70, coast to coast.
They have no garages, the best they can do during their down time, is to park next to another semi truck or a building wall.
That air compressor/ air line, anti freeze works

Well guys I pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered a laramie/night/ORG/3.92/6'4 bed.. the only thing I'm not happy about is the dealer told me a regular hemi wasn't available to order, only the etorque.. I placed the order because i felt pressured but now I'm having second thoughts haha

I wanted a long bed. But happy with my rig now.

I'm sure it's gonna be a beautiful truck. Enjoy it! Post pics.

so they sold all of the 2022 Hemi engines & they only have the unsold etorque stock left

I would just wait until they open the 2023 Ram 5th Gen ordering banks

Now, if you want to wait for the 2023 Ram Classic 1/2 tons, you need to wait a couple more months

I’ve had 3 Rams with 5.7 Hemi and my new one is the first one with the eTorque. Can’t tell a difference between them. Feels and drives the same to me
