Sounds like air in the fuel system.

Might be moisture/water in the fuel also. If ran tank down to dry, well, who knows what debris may have been in the tank. Does the 2000 RAm still have a fuel filter external or is it in the tank?

That happened on my 94 2500.
Was the engine temp sensor.
Idle air intake temp I believe.
Change fuel pump and that wasn't the problem. Put in new idle air mod sensor and it fixed the problem.
