I have a 2015 Ram 3500 Bighorn diesel. I have a lot of bells and whistles but no alarm. Is it possible that it just needs to be activated? I did hear about an alfaobd that may work. Any feedback?

The truck should have the their alarm enable from the factory, when the vehicle is locked up a red led will blink in the speedo(just under the needle). It only sounds of a door is opened, to test roll a window brown then lock up the truck and let it set for a few minutes. Open door without unlocking the truck. If that works you can add the Megatronix UPS Add-On Shock Sensor: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VHG3BA/
If the factory alarm isn't enabled you can with AlfaOBD.

There is a youtube video or two on how to enable the factory alarm with AlfaOBD. I plan to do it with my truck once I get the hood latch with switch and harness installed for remote start.

Does anyone know if there is a plug and play sensor or do they all require splicing?

Megatronix offers a UPG Glass Break Audio Sensor and a UPS Shock Impact Vibration Sensor that can be added to a wire in your vehicle that will trigger the OEM alarm.
Not sure which wire to try and locate in my 2019 1500 but I will have to look.

That shock sensor looks for a circuit to be powered or brought to ground(selectable).
If I remember correctly on the Gen4 trucks, it's a pinkish wire that comes from the door latch your looking for. That wire is grounded when the door is opened/not fully latched.

I found a video on YouTube to add a DEI shock sensor. Add shock sensor to stock alarm Pretty straight forward by tapping the door/dome light wire. Make sure you put a diode on it to prevent back feeding just to be safe. But I'd like to find the wire to tap to add an LED that you can see from outside the truck when the alarm is armed. You can barely see the one on the speedo. Anyone know how to do this or what wire to tap?

Thanks!

In order to set the alarm on my truck, I need to lock it with the key fob. If I simply lock it usng the button on the door, it doesn't activate.

2018 Ram 1500 Sport. I tried the enabling factory alarm with Alpha OBD(yes used a Bypass Cable). But I didn't have much luck with this. Used the video posted by WY-Dave. The red light blinks on my dash, but no sound when I open the door. Red light does go off. Any ideas? I bought the truck in Nov. It does have an aftermarket remote start (DS4x), so I'm wondering if that is playing a role?
