Andriod auto has been really good. No built in nav is gonna be able to keep up there imo.
It could but they'd just make it cost more to have and use but besides, it's already kinda hard to compete these days with smartphones. Those little digital cameras for example that used to be pretty plentiful that you could buy back in the day pretty much went away because of the cameras on smartphones. The only reason why the big ole professional Nikon and Canon cameras still exist today is because of the many user-programmable settings, the many lens and flash options that makes it much easier for professional photography but they are being caught up to.
I hid a Samsung tag in the truck. Free location tracking. That's just to help me find it after a late night out. Lol.

If it ever gets stolen, I probably rather not recover it.
I could probably do the same thing with an Apple AirTag come to think of it.

I even get a notification when the truck gets so far away from my phone. Pretty neat for a 1 time fee of like $30.

Well, Google has offline maps. So you can plain ahead if taking a long trip - talking about andriod auto.
That is the one reason I have a Garmin Nav V (from my motorcycle days) and an InReach. No more offline worries and the InReach is a satellite texting/GPS/push button and the Calvary comes to save you. It also leaves breadcrumbs of your adventures including elevation, speed, coordinates etc. You can share with your family where you are at and they can follow you…highly recommend it for the Overlanding crowd.

Cool gadget!

My truck is 100% pavement princess. Most trucks, around here are 2wd. Dealer has a 2wd laramie with 7 inch lift. Smh. Lol.

There is still some dead spots out on the interstates.

Luckily my work phone is on Verizon, personal is on AT&T. Very few dead spots on that Verizon phone. Atleast in my state.

After 40,000 miles:
1. Rotary shift knob. Still finding myself putting it into wrong gear and/or grabbing if to put car in 4wd. Kind of minor issue.
2. Auto shift to park when driver door is open. Only a big deal when adjusting trailer. Avoidable when I connect lap belt behind me, so not a huge deal.
3. Hard to find Oil and fuel filters. This is my biggest hassle, especially fuel filter.
4. More of an annoyance: Having to push the brake and start button when standing outside the vehicle before checking trailer lights.
5. No place to store key fob in dash. My first push button start vehicle had an in dash slot to hold the keyfob when driving. I don't like having keys or fob in my pocket on long trips. My wife has pants without pockets and she's always wondering where she put the fob, and doesn't like leaving it in purse.
Hey Doug,
Can't really relate to your annoyances but I understand wanting empty pockets on road trips, I prefer storing my FOB and wallet in the cubby under the brake controller, you might try the glasses storage on the dash or in the roof compartment, also there is the cavernous center console as well, however you must have thought of the, lol.

I was able to adjust my night time display settings when my headlight switch is turned on, the screen brightness setting will be adjustable for night, but not daytime. Turn headlight switch off and daytime settings can now be changed.

Still don’t like the dial shifter. Even less after seeing the nice shifter the TRX has. Lol

Don’t like the fact if you get out with the fob in your pocket it honks the horn, do not like the fact if the door is even ajar you can’t back up.
But dam it’s gotta be the best looking truck out.

And what’s Ram thinking putting these little ass tires on it.

So you go out and buy another truck with the same exact shifter….

Is this something new with the 5th gens? Mine don’t honk when I get out and the fob’s in my pocket. Never has.

But yep, same ole solution- buckle the belt or jam a belt-extender in receptacle. Problem solved.

Thought the PW got a 35” for stock? Either way, slap ya some bigger rubber on there and call it good.

I think you must mean if the truck is still running. It's a warning, so that you don't walk off and enable someone to hop in and drive off.

However, it IS controllable. It wasn't documented - I found it by accident, as I was trying to turn off the "seatbelt not buckled" chime. I never did find the software hack* to that, but it did turn off the warning for "keyfob has left the vehicle" audible warning.

*I use a 3" seatbelt extender for that. Also makes plugging the seatbelt in much easier!

Yes I know it’s to remind you the truck is still running it’s just another dumb thing they added like the lockout when the doors open and the truck shifts to park.
Really know reason for either of them I mean how do you forget the truck is still running or it’s not in the gear position you thought. Lol
Real happy with the truck and obviously it did not bother me enough to not buy another but just a couple things I don’t like about it.

If you know how to shut off the horn honk after you get out with the fob on you and the trucks still running you could share that as you are the only one that I have found that states it can be disabled. :)

I don't have it at hand, but search for how to disable the "seatbelt unbuckled" warning chime, as that's what I was trying to do. It worked on my '15 but on the '20 it turned off the "Keyfob has left the vehicle" honk. Maybe here: https://youtu.be/Jhnc0z-rl6k

Never did get the Unbuckled warning figured out, but instead got a 3" seatbelt extender - this not only disables that feature, but also makes it much easier to buckle in.

I have had my truck now for about 17 months and the only thing I am not real happy with are the chrome clad wheels. They look great but dont hold up very well to road debris.

I would assume this feature is also a reminder to those who park in a garage, there is always the risk that someone may accidentally leave it running and risk CO poisoning (mainly for an attached garage).

Just picked up a 2021 Laramie. Love this truck with one exception.
The exterior mirrors have the convex section in the absolutely worse possible place for me. They need to be in the lower outside corners NOT in the upper corner.

Not sure if they hired a goomba from Siciliy to design these mirrors or what, but can SOMEBODY tell me where I get some useful replacement mirrors? Just plain FLAT mirrors are ok. I'll just buy some little round ones at NAPA.

Why? I think they are in the perfect position.
