I'm thinking pretty seriously at replacing the rear view mirror in my Tradesman. This is the one I'm looking at: Amazon.com: Gentex GENK40A Mirror with Auto-dimming and Homelink: Automotive

I'm really not that concerned with the auto dimming feature but the Homelink would be a nice feature, the opener I have sucks. Since I have a Tradesman and no overhead console I'm wondering if I have much as far as a wiring harness I could tap into above the headliner?

The mirror requires both a constant hot as well as one only powered when the ignition is on. If I don't have a harness, where would be the best place to locate these power sources?

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I would like to do exactly the same thing with my Ram Express.

Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but it is possible to upgrade the rear view to a Gentex Homelink/auto-dimming. I just did that in my truck with a GNTX-1005 from a 2014 BMW 328i.
Main things you want to worry about is wiring and mounting. Most mirrors use a wedge mount, pretty sure that GNEK40A has a wedge mount. 2013 and newer RAM trucks use a twist off mount, meaning you'd need to get a $30 twist-off to wedge adapter. As for wiring, you'd need to connect a +12v and a ground. If you have a factory overhead console, you can pull power from there. If your truck has a connector for the mirror, you can plug in the mirror using the pink/yellow cable (+12v) and black (ground).
