I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited 4X4. 45,675 mi. My engine overheated out of the blue and within minutes there was sludge coming out of the front of my truck into a puddle. I have extended Maximum care warranty. Had the truck towed to nearest dealer and upon looking at it was told the engine was blown and radiator was blown too. I said ok lets get it all fixed because i have full warranty. A week later the warranty tech finally came out to look at it and Mopar denied my claim. Said the system shows i drove 157 miles after the overheating warning was given. This is completely false as i have pictures, texts and witnesses showing that from when i first had an issue to when i called for tow truck was less than an hour. The vehicle was limped home about a quarter mile at most. I have maintained the truck. Every service was done and documented. There is no modifications or aftermarket parts. Ive never even towed anything with this truck. Its a nightmare. Anyone else have similar issues or advice?

That sucks! I have heard this story so many times.

I tell people this all the time... As soon as you throw a code or have a problem. Stop immediately and call the "MFG" to come pick it up.
And that’s exactly what I did. The first thing I noticed was AC stopped blowing cold. Then I looked at temp gauge. Then I shut truck off.

You can try @RamCares and see if they can be of any assistance. People have reported mixed results.

And look for the language in the warranty that says once a warning light comes on you have to immediately pull over and stop. What if you don't see the warning light for some reason? Why is a "limp home mode" even an option if using it to limp home violates your warranty?
That's a real nut buster. Sorry you are going through this.

Not to be argumentative, but that's not what you said you did in your first post. You said you limped it home about a quarter of a mile. That is not shutting it off immediately. Not saying you don't have a case, but make sure you remain consistent with your claims on this.

Yes I cut it off when I saw the temp elevated. I sat there for 30 minutes. Started it back up and temp was normal. Slowly drove home at 10mph which was a quarter mile away. Bottom line is that I didn’t drive 150 miles as the computer says and between for trouble and calling tow truck was about an hour.

That sucks, and as far as I'm concerned it shouldn't matter if you did drive it 157 miles. These things have so much tech on them and sensors that they should be able to shut themselves down before major issues occur...unless it is something major like throwing a rod through the block, but then ya sure as hell aren't driving it 157 miles after that happens. Bottom line...you have a warranty...the truck grenaded itself...they need to pay to fix the truck!!!!

Is the warranty with RAM or a third party? Why did they have to send a Warranty Tech out? Doesn't the dealer usually act as the go between with RAM?
I have power train warranty left through 60k mi and I have Mopar maximum care extended warranty through 125k miles

It is possible your truck was malfunctioning to the point that it started the mileage counter before you knew you had an issue. Document everything you have written. Put it in a timeline and gather affidavits and receipts to prove/support everything. Also try Ramcares. Problem to overcome is manufacturer sells warranties to make money, not repair trucks. You have an uphill battle but with docs above it will be a little easier. Good luck.

So just to clarify, you're dealing with the manufacturer warranty and not the Extended Mopar MVP warranty that kicks in after your factory warranty is up, correct?

They are saying the fail point is the radiator which is not covered by powertrain so it’s covered by MVP. Which means the engine will be MVP which is what the service director explained to me

EDIT....

Nevermind, I didn't realize the radiator wasn't part of the powertrain warranty even though the engine depends on it to run at a certain temperature...lol.

Gotcha. For some reason since the radiator is a vital part of the engine, I figured it would be included in the manufacturer warranty but I guess not.

But ok, since they're blaming the radiator(kinda sounds fishy to me), what are they saying the radiator did to fail and let the engine overheat? Have they even torn into anything to verify the radiator was indeed the culprit?

So to verify now, you're saying your Mopar warranty is voiding your claim because you supposedly drove over a hundred miles with a hot motor? If so, how did they obtain this information and did they at least show you where the computer says you supposedly did?

I've been a mechanic for over 30 years and I will say that these modern vehicles (all manufacturers) with many computers will record much more information than you can possibly fathom. I'm honestly surprised they didn't tell him the speed he was traveling when all this happened. Most independent repair shops don't even have access to that type of information.
